When you say that Anderson is playing well, is that from a 4th liner pov?

If so, then I'd agree.

2pts in 6 games while playing <14min/night, decent hustle, not hurting the team with bad gaffes, but also not adding any real value or impact... That's pretty good showing for a 4th liner.

But that's piss poor from the pov of what he's paid to provide and from what our roster needs... I'd agree that at this point, decent/good 4th line play is what we should expect, but understand if some fans are still frustrated.
Anderson & Gallagher forget their contracts …it’s not a hinderance to the team in anyway. Their roles have been clearly defined by that moron MSL this season and their objective is to outplay the other teams bottom -6 which they have in every game but season opener vs Leafs - and in Andersons case also go back to the successful PK role he had in CBJ.

Habs PK is sitting at what 94%…..

MSL has developed who exactly ?
Slaf for starters?

What would any experienced coach do after such a lazy & careless penalty in OT by a now 3+ year NHL young vet?

It’s game 6 in a season, MSL has promised more accountability….
I see too many holes in this coaching staff. I don't drool over MSL like many here do. I think he is in way over his head and it's starting to show more and more.

Zero issue with Marty not putting Dach in .

Also its interesting that people are still whipping on Gally and Anderson they look way better than last year , trust me , I ripped them

Habs are 1-pt out of 2nd place in the division AND wildcard spot - can we at least wait till US thanksgiving for the seasons last will & testament?

It’s mind blowing the “Habs are a bottom 5-10 team this season” are yet losing their minds with the present over performance of the team….

This is very true but it doesn't change the fact that opinions vary from great to awful and should be supported/attacked based on merit or lack thereof. If someone has an opinion that 1 x 1 does not equal 1....then they are an idiot and don't get any leniency for saying that it is just their opinion. Proclamations under the guise of "opinion" are not immune to being ridiculed, nor should they be.
So if people disagree with you they are idiots now?

It's not a season summary it's that I don't think the current coaches are good enough. But fair enough...let's circle up in April and see.

Just like we fans want to see improvements in our young players we should also want to see our coaches improve as well.
Truly the last Hab coaches I thought were good were Jacques Demers and Pat Burns.

Habs PK sits at 94%, top line is on PPG pace, rookies are getting 20+TOI without hesitation from the coach (fans have whined for decades of wanting this)…

Are those not “signs of improvement”?

The improvements i am referring to are more systems related. We still resemble the bad new bears in our own end. I hope they figure things out.
I want them to do well but I wont sing their praises if I think they deserve some criticism.
Too often we see the team not ready to play when the puck drops. Too often we see the Habs totally dominated in the second period after teams make adjustments and it appears our coaches have no answers. Oh well it is what it is, the Habs suck year after year and that's ok.

Slaf was gonna be the player he always was gonna be.

CC looks worse than his rookie season. Suzuki looks worse than he’s ever looked.
Guhle was a stud from his first game and he’s been sabotaged by playing RD.
Who exactly has he’s helped out?

Not the vets that’s for sure. Heck it took Armia leaving him to play better.
Other players leave and look better elsewhere

Only one game this week, Tuesday vs NYR, so a lot of practice time available. Monday, Wednesday-Friday should all be practice days. They need to work on defensive zone outlets & PP.

Slaf should sit against Rangers and given the week off to heal. There's definitely something up with his shoulder. Might as well put Pezz in. Guy has to play sometime.

I would sit Barron and bring Xhekaj back, too.

And Suzuki is shooting 0%, that's not going to last either. I think the first line will continue to get points.

The second line needs a change. MSL needs to do something.

It's stupidity rather than patience if they see another game together.

Newhook is struggling to find his game.
Dach needs support to find his game after a year long absence.
Armia has never been a to 6 player at his best and we are seeing 2023 training camp Armia to start the year.

Give Dach a lifeline.

Although I don’t see them competing this year, can we at least wait until about 20~ games into the season before we start with this kind of crap?

I don’t think MSL is completely at fault here. The combination of what looks like lack of effort to start games, low IQ plays, and a couple bad contracts anchoring the team down are what’s going to sink the ship if it continues.

That being said, I do think they need to bring in a PP specialist coach. As much as I think Hutson should be on the first unit, it isn’t going to instantly fix the problem. They have a lot of useful tools that can contribute, but seem to lack structure and intelligence as soon as they’re a man up.

What's funny is that we're doing the same thing we did to Slaf and then wondering why it's not working. Just swap Armia for Andy and it's identical.

In 3 years, have we seen any improvement in any team aspect play?

Yes, individually, some players improved. But collectively, we still have no structure in any zone, no improvement on the speciality teams, no improvement in forecheck. Nada.

MSL would be better suited as assistant coach. As far as preparation of a team and creating a structure/identity of play, he sucks.

Only because CC is shooting at 30%. It's not going to hold for much longer.
The Gods owe him.

Btw, in the period under MSL before his shoulder issues, his shooting percentage was roughly 17-18 percent over that 82 game stretch. So yeah, he’s not going to score 82 but if his shot really is back then 40 plus isn’t unrealistic.

The 2nd line needs Joshua Roy. He’s the only healthy player we have who makes sense there.

Sense, What cause he had one good game in Laval. Hein before him, Kap, etc.
Short term results are meaningless.

The reason he makes sense is because he’s actually suited for that line. He’s got a great shot, can play two way hockey and is a cerebral skilled hockey player.

I don’t give a shit if he has two goals in four games in Laval or if he has eight goals or zero goals. He’s the guy who makes sense there.

We’re wasting our time with Armia on the 2nd. Dach’s struggling to find his game as it is. Roy would actually help.
