Nah, Andlauer can hire an actual coach then. Unfortunately we’ll already be out of it by November 15th.

His leash probably shouldn’t even reach November if he doesn’t have a winning record by then.

When Teams are trending upwards they tend to trend downwards in the draft, it's the cost of being good. Who knows how this team will do next yr with DJ as coach but they were vastly better last yr than the yr before right to the end of the season. If they can get out of this DBC mess with a decent return that improves the team in one or two areas they could be a playoff team which is again an improvement.

At that point they start to tweak the team to continue to improve to move further along in the playoffs. It takes great players to make a great coach & sometimes visa versa, but improvement in all areas should push this team further along each yr. Their biggest need right now is solid goaltending all yr to get them into the playoffs. I don't think it should be a surprise that new ownership is not cleaning house right off the bat, but instead looking for stability in the org to start. Hopefully, they get off to a good start otherwise changes could happen quickly.

22/23 10 - 13 - 1
21/22 7 - 16 - 1
20/21 8 - 15 - 1
19/20 11 - 12 - 1

That Dorion has hitched his wagon to this horse only reaffirms what I already feel to be true - neither will last past the end of November.

See the tweet I posted in the other thread with Hanna's comment. This line to me implies Andlauer accepted the recommendation as in said yes.

Dorion recommended that to Michael Andlauer and the new owner will take the recommendation of the GM.

I wonder what kind of contract Chychrun will be looking for? His current contract will run out at the end of the 2024-25 season.

We've moved a 7th overall and a 12th overall so far trying to put some finishing touches on the rebuild.

No changes to start the year was expected. Dorion recommending Smith stays .. whatever. It was expected Dorion would not be given the green light to make coaching changes... the WRITING IS ON THE WALL he'll be gone and coaching decisions will be made from there.
 
DJ is better as a coach with more NHL experience. But still very weak to prepare the team for the season. Looks like players always adjusting themselves to win the games down the stretch. DJ is bad in using the right personal in the right line combinations to maximize the results. As players knew already Dorion will stay for another year. DJ could spell that Cat will not be traded this summer. The new contract is a possibility.
