Well, they will ask Claude to do the exit interviews and then fire him. Make no sense but it's hapenning in Boston, so....

As per Pierre McQuire, Coach and GM are always present at exit interview and it likely doesn't mean anything, not unusual for a coach that will be fired.

I honestly am not sure what side of the fence I sit on Claude.

Yes, Mgmt did not give him the best players.

But for those that defend him, how can you explain these end of season collapses for two years in a row ? I cannot believe that
the team played over their heads for 70 games and then showed
their true colors the last 12. Something isn't right there.

And the last two games. How do they come out like world beaters
vs Det, then two days later act like they don't care.

In either of these two cases it is not management. It is either
Claude, the players, or both. The inconsistency this year was mystifying, just look at the winter classic. Again, this isn't on
management. So what do you do ?

The team went through several winning and losing streak over the two seasons, teams do every season. Calling it a choke is interesting when we look at it all re: sample sizes. Over the grand course of a season with this team it wasn't all that unexpected. Many of us saw something similar coming even around the trade deadline, with the schedule much tougher towards the end.

If the defense were even average the Bruins could probably ride the two forward lines into the playoffs.

Amazing that some of you people keep watching. Just amazing. Guess it just gives you one more thing to complain about.

Well the Boston area is notorious for loving an excuse to drink, the end of the last two seasons are certainly worthy.

You can spin this a lot of ways:

2008: One win away from upsetting a heavily favored Habs team
2009: One goal away from Eastern Finals
2010: One win away from Eastern Finals
2011: One goal away from 1st Round knock-out
2012: One goal away from 2nd rd.
2013: One goal away from 1st Round knock-out
2014: One win away from Eastern Finals
2015 One win away from 8th straight playoff appearances
2016: One point away from 9 straight playoff appearances if they got in last year.

2010 Bonus: Winter Classic OT win at home

The point being you can look at Claude Julien's body of work many different ways. The line between his success and failures is very very fine.

I think he's a great coach. I question his system at times ( I think it's too easy to plan against it) and his usage of certain players. I also think it kept the Bruins in games they otherwise wouldn't of won. Until this year beating the Bruins badly was a very hard thing to do. If they lost, it mostly wasn't by much.

I am not for or against firing Julien. He's partially to blame as is management and the players.

There is no easy answer here. It's certainly not cut and dry like some make it out to be.

Interesting take and I appreciate the perspective.

Just one gaping difference between your roll up, and one I provided, re: Claude's body of work.

One of them is fact - as in did actually happen (mine). One of them is 'almost did' or 'just fell short' or 'oh so close.' (yours)

Up to you which to go by. I'll stick with reality, and the truth of what did occur to base my judgements.

Your reality ignores a number of factors and pretends it is black and white that each season, Claude Julien choked.

Love this sentiment. It's so refreshing to have some random person on the internet lecture everyone on how a fan should enjoy watching a sport. Bravo sir! Bravo!

That's fair, and like I said I'm not for or against firing Julien. Just I have a hard time judging each season by the result of one game, positive or negative.

If Claude is going to be fired, at least do it early in the off season so the guy can find a job. Guy was left dangling in the wind last year with no idea what was going on.

This seems like good advice.
Fire him already!

I mean, you do seem to enjoy being miserable

In terms of hockey, what's there to be happy about? This team sucked and spit the bit down the stretch for the second consecutive year. The last time they were in the playoffs, they got smoked by Montreal in the worst possible way. Should I be doing cartwheels and talking about what a great job the team, the coach, and the GM have done while missing the playoffs yet again?

Yup, lots of 'read between the lines' there. Also, the way he said it, it seemed like there were multiple teams interested.

I think he was just covering his tracks realizing he may have given something away.

I mean right in the middle of being questioned about Claude getting fired he says the name I'm hearing is blah, blah blah........... maybe I'm jumping to conclusions
but ................
