Kurt's more broken out in acne than a high schooler on prom night. And to think, that 10 gallon bucket of a neck is only gonna get bigger as time goes by. WWF talent was on some serious stuff back then

Just finished Invasion

Solid PPV overall. RVD vs Hardy was incredible just like was said.

I had a feeling Austin was gonna screw this up. WWF was milking the shit out of this and as usual was working WAAAAAAYYYYYY too hard for a "GOTCHA!!" moment. I've learned to keep my eye out for this sort of thing.

Oh well.. At least this means my Olympic Hero is babyface officially now. I'll enjoy it for as long as it lasts because by the time I started watching with regularity in spring 2002 people were booing the hell out of him.

Can't wait for Raw

A PPV that I don't think gets talked about much is Summerslam 2002. Top 5 PPV of all time. Such a stacked card. WWE sucked for the first half of 2002 but that summer, they really had things going. Great build for most of the matches om the show. I remember thinking this was going to be the start of a turnaround for WWE but right after, we got things like HLA and Katie Vick.

I miss The Rock

Don't dislike Sara Callaway at any actual level but I'm ready to see her leave. Like I get the idea that her being at Taker's side is where she's safest, but it's really taking away from the segments involving him. It doesn't add anything but problems and Taker has to be booked around a dozen problems at a time if he's ever going to lose a match anyway.

It almost feels like she thought "Oh I can do this too!" and decided she doesn't even need to wear shoes. Blaahhhh

Angle wins the WCW championship in Pittsburgh. That's pretty sick not gonna lie. Only Jericho deserves something like that, THAT much. But I gotta be serious. Was this a deliberate burying of Booker T because he was WCW or is Booker T doing THE biggest solid I've ever seen a newcomer do?

Either way it's exciting. I just hope it doesn't mean Angle has a golden shovel now. Let's see if it holds up that way

Sara and Nick Patrick are running neck and neck for THE WORST gimmick since The Oddities. I'm on the July 30 2001 episode of Raw and it's not to be a sicko. But God Almighty. Can we PLEASE get her driven through a table so she can go away? This legitimately doesn't add anything.

I DID consider watching all of Nitro after finishing with WWF/WWE to Mania 21 but I also know Nick Patrick was doing this same crap even back then. The whole "crooked ref" thing only works like the angle with Andre/Hogan. Christ it's going to turn into a chore past 1999.

Oh well. Rock is back. Thank you Lord. Words cannot describe how happy I am to see this man. Glad Booker got the strap back too. I know Angle got screwed but I hate Gold Shovel booking.

Lord please make this DDP/Sara crap stop. Bruce Pritchard, I completely understand why stuff like that can be fascinating and why you'd suggest the idea but dude this DOES NOT work for this long.

I'm literally just skipping every Taker/DDP segment now. This is "change the channel" bad

Haven't made mention yet but I absolutely love the APA as tag team champions.

Edit: well f*** me. I say something and now they just lost the belts to Kanyon and DDP after Test went turncoat. I'm curious if anyone's gonna leave the alliance at all

On the August 13 2001 episode of Raw.

RIP Y2J from Smackdown!

Holy shit are we getting Beautiful People and the fist stage on Smackdown!??? I'm freaking out. That thing was the most beautiful set WWF/WWE ever had

Angle vs Austin at SummerSlam has me LIT. I'm gonna FREAK if he pulls this win off. I'm sort of hoping Austin retains because it still makes sense from a story perspective to keep the strap. BUT! You can still turn the tide for WWF here momentarily

Booker vs Rock is gonna be amazing. Kinda cheering Booker here. Would love to see a Stone Cold shit fit if Booker retains but Austin loses

Put Sara out of her f***ing misery. PLEASE. I have nothing against the woman. I simply wish she was involved in a better angle. Her and her husband both deserve better

This "what" shit is already annoying

Edit: And apparently I caught the August 16 2001 episode of Smackdown unless Edge and Christian call themselves "octopuses" again. I thought that was funny even 20 years ago

"What" was funny for a few weeks ago but it actually started ruining promos. 21 years later I can't believe it's still going.

I went to WrestleMania in 2002 and I just remember so many fans in the concessions just randomly yelling "what" and I wanted to fight them all.

Alright. Onto SummerSlam 2001. Can't remember the last time I've been this excited for a PPV.

I DO know that Austin and Angle AT SOME POINT have a 79 bajillion star match that was this 40 minute epic that blew my brains out when I saw it. Angle gets carried off by the WWF locker room and it's like the wicked witch is dead. I watched it one time many years ago hoping I'd forget when it was and sure enough I did.

Will not be disappointed if Austin retains. It kinda makes sense to me if he does that way we can have 3 matches. Angle can get another try and succeed at it and then successfully defend it.

Lol I have no idea when the milk truck moment is supposed to happen but that's gonna be awesome too

Lmfao I forgot how popular "Let the bodies hit the floor" was and how much WWF pumped the hell out of it. This PPV hasn't even started yet and it's already hyping itself harder than a neutron star explosion

PS- that moment when you realize "Holy shit I'm just a year from Lesnar's arrival and a young me being like 'holy shit he's champion' when you were 13 and not missing Smackdown anymore"

Got Rock vs Booker T to watch still but gonna pause for now. The Austin/Angle match is over. Well it's cool they had another 79 bajillion star match but it sucks it has to be Nick Patrick ruining it by DQing Austin. But this is something I gotta get over. It just made sense for Austin to retain so they could keep going at it. This is still one of the best matches I've ever seen.

I'm sort of convinced this was supposed to be HHH but he simply got hurt and WWF had other plans for Kurt. They did the plan anyway and just made Kurt into a lovable goofball. Who else kicks out of the stunner dead center of the ring after losing half his body weight in blood? I watched WAAAAAAYYYYYY too much WWF 2000 to know Austin is the only other human being than HHH to have that level of "no sell"

But it is what it is. Angle is an actual freaking super hero and I'll enjoy his first babyface incarnation as long as it lasts. My God do I love that goofy SOB. I'm getting chills thinking about reliving the Team Angle days in approximately a year and a half from Summer Slam 2001. God I hated him so much back then. I'm gonna love it now

You guys were right. This was up my alley. I know I made passing mention of a heel having to do a total 180 in character transition to face Austin and take his mantle of the top babyface in the company (it felt like it had to be Kurt or HHH because I didn't think you could push Taker more than he already had been) but Jesus Christ this was like a blind squirrel bumping into a tree and every acorn coming down.

I have no idea what's gonna happen with Booker/Rock here. This is amazing

Shoot Austin into the f***ing sun. Please. This wHaT?!?! crap is on my last nerve. What started as a solid heel run has officially reached "change the channel" caliber. I finally understand why it became a thing. He just pushed it to death. He's even more insufferable the next Smackdown! I swear he's said it at least 50 times in 2 shows

This is almost HHH 2000 bad. Except I know he'll be gone for good (basically) in like 9 months and it'll be bittersweet

Thank you Kurt for hosing him down with milk.

Taker and Kane are freaking amazing. They just beat the hell out of Edge and Christian and I'm weeping for my boys. They're coming apart. I'm not ready for this

PS- where the hell is Chyna

She was gone by the time where you are. Contract issues. Also I think I remember her having an issue putting Lita over.

Holy shit... They seriously just went through turning Helms into the Hurricane. I gotta give the man credit for selling out to make such a bad idea work so well. This doesn't work without winning gold immediately so kudos to WWF for throwing him a bone to look credible. That's the kind of gimmick that can kill

I was a huge Hurricane mark back then. I'm in my 30s now and still mark for him.

I think I might still have my Hurricane mask somewhere in my parents house lol.
Oh believe me I already know I'm going to love this guy. Any gimmick that does not take itself too seriously is an instant like for me. Like I've noticed that Steve Blackman has all but disappeared and his contract is probably not renewed. I'll miss him but won't be moved because his gimmick was he was too serious and it was just taken way too seriously. Another is Ken Shamrock. A smile would've gone a long way for them. Gonna probably say "Thank God" when X-Pac is gone too

Alright I'm going to say it again about him. Lance Storm might be the most graceful wrestler I've ever seen. I haven't seen ANY of this guy's career or simply don't remember any of it and he would have been money with a gimmick similar to Benoit's. He can keep quiet but beat the living shit out of you. This is simply incredible. He makes it look like dancing. If he has a wrestling school he'll produce a prodigy at some point I'm sure. I hope those two hook up.

Been waiting for that Christian heel turn and it's finally happened. In Toronto. And it's so tragic. I'm gonna miss these guys dominating the tag team division.

With all of this said, why does Edge always have to rub his success in Christian's face? He had it coming as much as Austin for throwing MY Olympic hero's medals into the Detroit river. I'm not quite done with Raw and am thoroughly enjoying the WAHHHttlesnake getting abducted.

This Raw has been amazing and I can't refrain from commentary before it's done. Crazy to think 9/11 happened the week after this. What I'm watching feels so timeless in comparison to my current reality

The Rock bit with him where he just tells him he ain't nothing always gave me a chuckle - especially the part where he answers the phone and says "Hey! Its nothing and he says he knows you!" or something like that.
