@These Are The Days wait until you see Angle vs. Shane at KOTR. Some disturbing moments in that match.

I vaguely recall seeing Kurt forget which pane of glass to suplex Shane through and it was a really bad botch and of course seeing the actual successful suplex in highlights many many times. If there's anything else I'll try to remember not to eat before seeing it

It's one of the more brutal matches ever. You come away with a mountain of respect for both men as professionals. Really it's the match that Shane proved he was a wrestler and not an act

Yeah that's what I was referring to. The thud of his head hitting the concrete was scary. And I think it happened twice. I'm not in a position to look up the clip but the way I remember it is not that Angle threw Shane in to the wrong pane of glass. I thought he just kept trying the same but I guess not enough power in the throw.

Tajiri just made his WWF debut and although I remember how talented he is/was but DEAR GOD it's even more amazing to see it again after (let's call it) 15 years. Apparently I only remembered a fraction of it.

Go win KOTR baby. I habe NO damn clue what's happening and I love it

Edge wins KOTR!! This totally reeks of royalty!!!

Angle's temper tantrum backstage after Shane screws him is amazing. I haven't made it to the match yet but this is gonna totally rule!

Random thought: Road Dogg I guess is gone, Billy became irrelevant and every damn week I gotta see X-Pac in yet another clique. No wonder people couldn't stand him. I'm ready to move on

Shane vs Kurt was BRUTAL. I legitimately thought Shane was unable to continue after 3 botched suplexes like that and landing on his head how he did. Nevermind Shane, I would've thought it of anyone. Credit to him for finishing. There's no way his eggs weren't scrambled after that. Those were some bad knocks he took. Even from my standard. And credit to Angle for making him look that good.

That KOTR stage glass is on par with modern day announce tables for no selling suplexes

My one real postmortem after KOTR is simple: just turn Kurt babyface already. There's absolutely nothing wrong with his character right now but unless the guy comes out and completely trashes whatever city he's in, he's getting one of the best pops of the night and it's usually very positive. This reminds me of any incarnation of Randy Orton and people loving him every time he did some whacked out stuff. People just love the guy and it's time to simply embrace it -not a whole lot different than the Rock in 1999

Time for Raw

PS- I miss the Rock man.... how much longer is this gonna go

WWE network is showing the best of Backlash right now. They just had Angle vs Edge from 2002. Awesome match that I haven't seen since.

Made it to June 28 2001 Smackdown. I vaguely (and I mean vaguely) recall seeing this when it aired because I remember Austin freaking out over Booker T and mocking over it and his extremely awkward friendship with Angle.

Omg. This means the "What" shit is gonna start any second now

Not quite to Invasion 2001 but WWF is sure making a slow burn towards an Edge and Christian split/feud. I'm not ready for this yet. That does NOT reek of awesomeness.

Love Albert as IC champion. Love it. If there was ever a guy who showed up, put the work in and always did what was asked of him it's Matt Bloom playing Albert. I really hope he'll get 2-3 more months and a successful defense at SummerSlam before finally dropping it to a guy like Edge.

Honorable mention to Paul Wight as Big Show. Dude did everything ever asked of him up to sumo wrestling. To this day no one's earned my respect more than him

Watching July 7th 2001 edition of Raw and this is like 79,450 heel/face turns in the same night and that's by Shane alone. And now they got Steph joining forces with Shane and WCW/ECW joining forces? Like I get it. I really really do. But Jesus Christ this is the kind of stuff that drove WCW out of business.

I will very much enjoy it for what it is but this isn't just bananas. We aren't even dealing with fruit anymore. Hell I'm not sure if we're dealing with food

Dude Austin and Kurt kissing Vince's ass 24/7 thing is like a 3 on a scale of 1-10 in being funny. Like there's a few shining moments but it's otherwise like having a 5 year old again and she thinks it's funny repeating every word you say

If you're at July 01, the next couple months will be right up your alley

I've made it to July 19th episode of Smackdown! and the Invasion PPV is next. I don't understand why so many people say it was summer 2001 when they stopped liking WWF.

If you can sit through Stephanie and Hiatch plastering their damn faces on the titantron screen Christmas 1999 you can sit through Nick Patrick having a clause in his contact saying something screwy has to happen in every match, 93,000 face/heel turns with ECW/WCW/WWF and Stone Cold and Vince fawning over each codependently like the Always Sunny episode of "Mac and Dennis break up"

Edit: I've decided I'm going to watch through to Mania 21 and end it there. I would consider that the pivotal moment that WWF/WWE as we know it was gone for good because within 6 months John Cena turned into Captain Fruity Pebbles and you had crap like a gimmick division centered around people short in stature because Vince thinks crap like that is funny and gives it a clever name like "Juniors Division" or Vince vs God. The Boogeyman. Good God I can go on. I didn't handle it well back then and I sure as hell won't now. WWE programming as whole took a DRAMATIC shift after Mania 20 and the departure of Lesnar and it was noticable even then.

Not sure how much you know going in so I'll try to make this statement without spoiling much of what's to come but let's just say, at least IMO, what hurt the invasion angle was turning the wrong guys and burying DDP.

The Hardy/RVD match is epic. Arguably the best match in either one's career

My Olympic Hero is a hero damn it. He not only fought for his country but has valiantly fought against this alliance. He's a champion. A steward to the human race. An ambassador of mankind. Finally these unworthy souls who watch him give the respect he deserves. He's a leader. MY leader! Not that fake news rattlesnake! Too bad Invasion has to be in a dump like Cleveland!

Turn him face officially you cowards! I demand it!

To quote Lance Storm and be serious... It's rough how many times this guy has already been ripped on since this invasion started. The guy is a charisma vacuum on par with Natalya Neidhart as soon as he picks up a microphone. I get it. But damn man he's getting legitimately buried in these segments where he's interrupted. I'm not one to say "that's not fair" but that's not fair.

Lance you are a freaking champion for putting up with this. Seriously. I know you'll never read this but you're smoother than butter in the ring. It's like watching dancing with you. Is graceful and elegant what I'm looking for here? Stu Hart trained you so well. Holy shit dude

This WCW vs WWF ref feud is THE WORST idea I've seen in years (of WWF time) I mean this has got to be on par with The Oddities. A ref can take minor bump that knocks them down or out of the ring and will lay there like they're shot for 10 minutes. HHH vs Taker (or maybe it was Rock vs Austin) Mania 17 is particularly egregious for this. Half the match was outside of the ring while the ref laid there like he was dead. Doesn't even come to. Just lays in the ring for 10 minutes and doesn't even come to. Shake the dude and it's like "I can't go on"

But Nick Patrick and Earl Hebner can beat the living f*** out of each other and spring right back up. I know this isn't supposed to be real but my God.... This is how you destroy a business
