They probably won't get what they gave up. Arizona had less pressure to move him and waited for the right deal. Plus he had an extra year and a bit.

If the Sens trade Chychrun, they do it for either a playoff push and a full season, or simply a full season. At a fantastic salary.

They'll get a good return for him. Just probably not what they gave up to get him. Unless there is a bidding way for offensive defensemen.

Also good to keep in mind that a lot of those grown adults are nobody randoms talking into the electronic void. These people and their opinions don't just randomely fall into the laps of Jacob or his father Jeff. They actively go looking for it and react to it as they do.

Ya, but the two situations were pretty dysfunctional, with ownerships and management about as shaky as it gets. It's not like he is in a mediocre, but solid organization like STL, NSH, WAS, etc. OTT and ARI have been turds, organizationally, though there are signs of hope on the ice for ARI this year, and maybe in OTT with the new owner, but it takes time to turn things around. It's not like the other teams have stopped trying, while they have been spinning their wheels.

Being a pro athlete is the type of job that has a lot of public feedback. Especially in the age of social media. No matter what you do, you're not going to silence a legion of trolls and wannabe tough guys. Dad would probably be better off avoiding hockey talk on social media altogether.

And yes, the twitterverse Sens fans are definitely an embarrassing bunch.


As for Chychrun himself, I do like the player, but he is not what the team needs. We need a natural RD who is a solid defense first player, who can play a physical game and punish opponents in our zone. And those guys are getting difficult to find lately, as most of the kids want to be the next Erik Karlsson.
