Laine and Connor need to both get going but the thing that stood out the most in this game is how brutal Trouba played , guy is making 6 million this year , i expect more out of him .
he plays like he is trying to maximize his next contract. always cheating to try and score more. still gets walked way to often but when he plays defense he is respectable. but when he pinches and tries to join the rush that's when he is not really good.

Little had a wide open net and shot at Rittich instead, Laine beats Rittich but off the crossbar - not even a shot on goal.
I saw that too and felt bad for Little. Does he have no accuracy on his shot? My 7 year old nephew would have buried that shot 9 times out of 10.

Was watching post game interview with Coach Peters. Does anyone understand why a reporter would say the jets have the best power play in nhl history.
Was it Jim Toth asking the question? If so, that would explain a lot.

Can the jets trade Trouba?
A long with helle. Don't like how helle gets new contract and some how magically regresses
Guy got paid. He's living life like a rock star. This is the problem with guaranteed contracts.

He's not even that. Most 20 year olds trying to figure out the NHL game put in more effort than that.

He reminds me of a spoiled child out there, like the NHL owes him goals. If he added a little passion and grit to his game he'd be amongst the NHL point leaders right now.
Agreed. He's no more than another Brett Hull. Just float around 99% of the time, and take shots the rest of the time. Someone needs to light a fire under Laine.

Yup. And the team is doing pretty darn well. There shouldn’t be this much negativity. It’s crazy.

Some folks need to manufacture stress. I am taking the kids to visit grandpa in a retirement community in Mesa today and there are seniors living in a beautiful oasis retired and comfortable but they sit and worry and clock watch to make sure kids DO NOT enter the pool area until 4:00PM. They are hilarious and seem to need to manufacture stress for some reason.

Kids entering the pool area prior to 4:00pm would result in complete chaos. Good on those seniors for enforcing the rules.

Looks like Laine and Helle ate too many cheeseburgers and junk food over the holidays.

Honestly Hellebuyck was pretty good in this game until that 3rd goal.

But we could easily blame that one on getting kneed in the head by a classless piece of trash Calgary player.

Yea from about 2:00PM on this week there is no one in the pool area other than one or two crazy Canadian’s.....this isn’t peak pool season in Arizona. The senior tensies show up at about 3:00 and don't swim they sit in the tall grass and clock watch and crank themselves up waiting for little baby gazelle’s to get too close to the water then “BAM” spring their trap.

I won't even count the hit to the head because Helly stayed in the game, so he was probably OK to keep playing. But IMO, Helly played good enough for the Jets to win. The Jets couldn't score, that's why they lost. Take away Laine's goal and it would have been 1-1 heading into the 3rd and anyone's game.

Rittich basically saved everything and blessed his goal posts before the game.

It was similar to the Jake Allan St Louis 1-0 loss where nothing would go in.

anyone else notice the terrible timing of the tv timeout almost immediately after we scored?

The Jets should really beat a team like Calgary 5-2. They are a way better skating team, and have a lot more goal scorers. I hope we blow them out next game.

Be nice to see a lot more of Brossoit in net -- the guy is fantastic. Also I really hope Connor gets out of his slump--he's a much better player than he's shown recently.

Yeh people are overreacting and just looking at box scores a bit much. The score was flattering for the Flames. Rittich played great and was reading the plays pretty dam well. It happens.

I would like to see a decently officiated game because they didn’t call jack shit on Calgary.

And I’d love to know what Scheif was going on that 2nd goal.

Outside of the missed shots Little played pretty great.
How people can single him out is pretty bad.
Several other forwards were way worse and he wasn't the only one to miss wide open chances.
The amount of flubbed and fanned shots was astonishing as a team.
Little drove play and was 73% in the dot.

We could make a long list of Jets players who screwed up glorious chances tonight.
Put Stastny with Laine and Connor tonight and it is VERY unlikely he does any better than Little. A huge part of the run E-St-L went on last year was that Laine was on fire. Credit to Stastny for playing well in that role but we saw how their line eventually dried up. When Connor and Laine are hot their center will look beastly.

Highly unlikely Chevy trades a key player.
You add you don't subtract.
If Trouba has to be traded if should be in the summer before the draft not when we are first in the West looking to make a big push in the playoffs.

On to the next game.

Bingo bango bongo! Nailed it! Little’s play has been pretty dam consistent but he’s got two young, raw, wingers on his line that i can’t imagine have played a ton of defense growing up. These games are going to happen. Little is far from the problem.

This board is easily the most forgiving place in the city for Laine's play. Everywhere I went over the Xmas season people were highly critical of Laine. Mostly describing him as lazy and a giveaway machine. My thoughts people are getting a little worried we will overpay for a "one trick pony". A few people myself included tended to defend him as he is only 20 y/o, but it sure would be nice if he found another level to his game.

I would just settle for good habits like moving his feet and using his big frame consistently. Lol

I’m still of the opinion that Laine is doing what he’s being told to do for whatever reason. It would sure help the mood of this board if we knew what Maurice was telling Laine. I have a very hard time believing that Laine has changed his entire style of play and on ice demeanor on his own.

Maurice didn't change Laine's game. McCabe did.

Also, with regards to Hanifin kneeing Helly. I think that was 100% accident(although probably careless going in a tad late like he did) and that was far from his intention. With that said, at some point this team is going to get sick a tired of the refs letting shit like that go whether it’s accidental or dirty and they are going to tak things into their own hands. Morrissey getting cross checked in OT head first into the boards, Tanev the same, Littlw getting called for diving on the same type of play, Lowry getting completely leveled without the puck and then this tonight. At some point they are just going to say “f*** it!”

Jets need as a team need to become more pro active instead of reactive from the start of the game, set the tone, feel out the ref see what they can get away with especially in your own building, don't let other teams take runs at your better players or any players for that matter, answer that garbage swiftly.
