Leafs have one spot to fill in their top 6. Why waste is on this guy?

Have him at 3C, move Holmberg to 3LW and have Mitch Marner shift between this and the JT line.

I think this gives Toronto 3 dependable scoring lines.

Similar to what Eller went for or Shaw

2 x 2nds defensively responsible 3C who plays power play and PK. Both those players made 3.5 after trade but that was almost a decade ago so Dvo's cap hit is the current equivalent roughly.

That's actually a really good comparison...

Seems more like Habs fans telling us we want him than the Leafs wanting him. No room for overpaid bottom 6 players
You don't seem to have noticed we're in no rush to move him. I can see the Habs listening to offers... but a debate about whether Toronto would offer a 2nd rounder or a 2nd and a 3d is kind of pointless, since we'll keep him over anything that doesn't really help the Habs rebuild. The Habs already have an issue this summer at the 2C position, moving Dvorak means 3C is vacant as well.

That's fine but regardless of what a random Leafs fan or 2 says the Leafs have no interest. They already have just as good players for cheaper and he doesn't move the needle at all. Leafs need a guy at the top of the lineup not any more depth, they have tons of depth.

not that the Habs are moving him, but he could be a good fallback plan for TOR if they strike out on other targets. Faceoff prowess, defensively strong and responsible, and has offensive instincts. He has a nice skillset.

He's never learned to use it in the NHL and I think we can assume Marner had a lot to do with his junior career. That said, he's better than Kerfoot at a lot of things. Kerfoot can be moved around but he's a deer in headlights most games. Dvoraks issue is the contract. He's not worth it and neither is Kerfoot. Could they be? In the right circumstances but are you really putting either of them on your top line to justify the money? Likely not

He has been on 2 teams his whole NHL career and neither have really been that good. I can't assume anything about his junior career, it's foolish to make such an assertion, and even if such an assertion is true, I do believe Marner is on the Leafs, so that's a pro! He's had some injuries also, he has a higher ceiling than Kerfoot and is an actual centre as compared to Kerfoot. The Leafs could use him as their checking line centre and could give him reps on the LW in certain situations to maximize the defensive side. His contract is not the greatest but it isn't the worst either, and maybe there could be retention. Again I am not saying the Habs are moving him but I definitely think he has the skillset that the Leafs could use, he still has upside and is on the right side of 30. Would I prioritize him no, but would I circle back and inquire if he was available absolutely.

Two problems for the Leafs:

He makes too much for the role he'd play in Toronto, and they're looking for more bang for your buck type players.

His contract is too long given where the Leafs other spending priorities will be in a couple seasons
