Fall of Pierre
This guy probably doesn't know how to spell intensity.
Glaring weak spot in a lineup that's becoming quite impressive. What to do?
I'm sure we can find a way to move him in the summer.
AgreedOr, if worse comes worse, just move him at the deadline. Don't like the idea of blowing more assets on him. That just compounds bad with more bad.
At first glance it seems like he is just attempting a backhand shot and just executed it poorly. I watched the clip a few times and another idea came to mind. Right when Tierney is receiving the pass Connor Brown has got free from the d man and looks like he is going behind the net to the left corner but then quickly cuts back towards the right post. Given Brown's speed maybe Tierney thought he would chip the puck to the corner, Brown would get it and send it back to him for a one timer on his forehand. He looks down at the puck and chips it into the corner and as he looks up Brown has cut back in on the right post and now he has given the puck away.I just dont understand what he's trying to do
Whatever that play was, it the worst of all the options he had, regardless of how awful the execution was.
He must have thought he had a D on his back or something but that was terrible.
He has been playing much better lately though - that line he is on fits his game very well.

Nothing motivates a player for a good season more than UFA.
I predict he comes in and plays a solid 3C game for us.
Then hopefully nets us a 2nd in deep draft. Would be best parting gift.
Absolutely- I like the idea of PD constantly flipping away these players for 2-7 RD picks - they do well in that range.
Flipping old vets or UFAs demanding long term high salary contracts is probably going to occur more often in the future with our owner, the Covid problem, the lower revenues in a small Canadian market, the attractiveness of USA-based teams in warmer climates, etc.
Chris Tierny is a very serviceable player who can play up & down the lineup, however, he is also easily replaced by better younger players. I don't see much difference between Tierny & White tbh other than White is younger & signed to a higher salary & longer term right now.
I think at some point Ottawa needs to move on from both these players unless White miraculously becomes a much better player, which I doubt. I'm hoping that L. Brown replaces one of them this yr & if not, that one of our other centres replace them eventually & upgrade the position.
I agree … it only costs $4 mill to use Toerney next year and you probably recoup a pick … it will cost $11 million minimum to buy out White and we won’t get a pick.
We should move on from White ASAP unless the sens have info he’s improved his game.
Tierney is much more attractive as a 4C who can PK to me at $4 million and a 4RD…
If I'm the Sens, I'm not paying 4M for a 4C.
Why not for one year? It's not like they are paying a bunch of other guys big money. If I'm the Sens, I'm not paying 4M for a 4C.

He has no future with this organization and if he doesnt start playing with any jam at all he wont be in the league for long. If so it will be on one year 750 k contracts as a filler player. People are right he doesnt hurt your team outside of the fact he doesnt really try and score. He is sound defensively but is rarely engaged. Chris Tierney would have been a great player in the trap era, he would have fit in great on a Jaques Lemaire coached team. No event hockey. However hockey isnt played this way anymore, you have to have skill or a willingness to get dirty to play in the league while being defensively responsible. The team should be able to ship him out for a pick at the deadline. No issue it being one year. But not long term.
