I had absolutely no positive feelings about his goal tonight. Almost missed it. Nothing to do with Kreider but it being an almost meaningless goal in a huge loss was a disservice to his season. Congrats on a great season regardless.
Boy does this guy love to complain or what? Even I'm not complaining tonight! I was there at the Garden and didn't even care about the loss after seeing it go in.

Congrats Kreider on 50!

Now go for the record! 8 more games left!

Hadfield scored his 50th in a 6-5 loss
Jágr scored his 50th in a 3-2 loss

Who the f*** cares?
Exactly. Kreider is a 50 goal scorer. Literally the only reason I bought the ticket to go tonight was in the hopes that I would see it and I was lucky enough to be there. Would have liked a win (and I had issues with their play for some of the game!) but I'M NOT COMPLAINING TONIGHT! 50! A Rangers draft pick in the cap era is a 50 goal scorer. What a pick in 09!

It's nice historically speaking but hard to be happy tonight. If the goal came with like 10 minutes to go maybe it would be different but it was close to meaningless in the context of tonight.
I hear what you’re saying and it would have felt better in the moment if it was a super meaningful goal. That being said, years from now it won’t matter, it’ll just stand as an incredible accomplishment that we all cherish.

I was just in such a bad mood I barely saw it. I can't remember the last time a loss affected me like this. Maybe the St. Louis game. I really wish I could have appreciated the moment more.

I think you'd manage to find a way to complain about having prime Jessica Simpson throwing herself at you for a night.

I'm not complaining about the goal and I've been pretty positive all season but call bad goaltending my Achilles Heal. That's what I complain about. So this loss was more painful than most and watching #50 come on a salt in the wound meaningless goal ruined the moment for me.

Anyway, I need to stop hijacking this thread. It's great to have a home grown 50 goal scorer. It's pretty surreal. I still remember how excited I was when we drafted him and I feel like his game is different from where it was supposed to be and even what it was. He doesn't get that many breakaways anymore even though he's still plenty fast.

So here's a question. Did Gallant tap into something mentally where he gained a consistency in effort that he's never had? Or did he always have consistency in effort but we accused him of not having it because he didn't produce consistently?

Ironically, you have a bunch of posters whining and complaining about Laff, Kakko, and Kravtsov in threads and how the Rangers can't develop 1st round forwards and low and behold a homegrown, former 1st round forward scores 50 goals (and counting) and crickets today..... because meh, he's old. What a joke.

Who really knows? We can only theorize and speculate. But it's never one single thing. It's probably a combination of a bunch of things like him hitting the mental maturity peak, and this is really the first year where he is the de facto "captain" because he is the longest-tenured player currently. No more Staal and Lundqvist, so he's got to be the man. Remember, he was a mental case for awhile, it was reported, overthinking and stuff. For the longest time, he didn't know how to play because of his strength. It's not only the 50 goals. It's noticeable how much better he is on the walls on the forecheck this year. It's like he's finally learned how to use his body effectively without overdoing it and getting called for infractions.

Or, less scientifically, sometimes it just "clicks."

Interesting but I wonder who took that faceoff that pretty much immediately resulted in the goal?
Would have been nice to have that on the pp in the second that would have changed the fate of the game last night.

I think he's been a different player since his blood clot. I think the years with Mika and developing chemistry has helped. Also the infusion of talent on the PP.

Chris is a great example of why players can and do buck trends and how so much of a players individual performance (outside of maybe the truly phenomenal--ovechkin, Crosby, mcdavid, etc) is contingent on many external factors.

The key with Kreider is that he hasnt lost a step. He's still freakishly fast and strong.
