Never thought I’d say this, but does Kreider have a chance of getting his number retired? Thought Fox/Shesterkin were the next possibilities, but Kreider might have a shot. These aren’t all very likely, but let’s say the following happens:

- he plays out his current contract for the Rangers and retires
- Rangers win a cup at some point in that time with him playing a prominent role (top 9 forward, top pp)
- has one more year with 30+ goals and/or an all star game appearance

Those aren’t that unlikely and at that point he’ll have played ~15 seasons on the team and the one player to bridge the mid 2010 contending teams and this one. Even if his career numbers aren’t spectacular think that’s probably enough to get his number retired.

If we win the cup with him maybe. Could be the Graves of that cup winning team.

At the end of this season it would be amazing if someone put together a compilation of all of Kreider’s deflection goals throughout his career. He’s quite literally the best at it.

They should give him the “C” over the summer. Maybe don’t want to mess with his mojo mid-season.

I think hes the de facto C now but he doesnt want the spotlight on himself. Thats the only thing that makes sense imo because hes the clear choice.

Bettman is going to hand him the Cup if we are lucky enough to win it all this year.

Fans like to have both heroes and scapegoats. It's probably cool to have an out and out leader like eg The Moose. But if they're happy with the current leadership situation I don't see any reason to whine.

If anything I'd like to give captaincy for the playoffs to both Panarin and Fox if it was at all possible. Them lifting the Cup first gonna make an absolutely mad story IMO.

Good grief....maybe Fox ...definitely not Panarin . Best captain we could have right now is Trouba . Nobody else is even close . He can set the tone of the game with a big hit or fight if need be . Both inspire a club and get them going . I'd say Panarin comes off more as a clown in the room and would not demand the respect that Trouba would . Now....if he used his God given talent like Crosby does on every shift....it would be a different story.....but he does not . Leaders don't take shifts off .

. Not really. They really haven’t played that much. He has a few games where he was snakebit but you can’t ask the guy to score every game
I’m not, he’s having a great season. I was responding to the 54 goal projection, which is based on his season to date, and which he won’t hit if he stays at this pace that he’s only been on recently.

Ranger fans have been telling the slobs on the main boards that Kreids had this type of talent for years and they would always scoff and say. “ most overrated 50 pt player”....
Obviously this is not a normal season we can expect going fwd.....
But there’s not many ranger fans that would have been surprised that Kreids hits around 40 goals with the size/speed/talent package he has....

no one was expecting him to score 50. Let alone 40, without having a couple 30 goal seasons.
But there were at least 2-3 years where Kreids hovered around the 30 goal mark and injuries/puck luck never let him hit that milestone.
It was a string of terrible luck.
