time is winding down. I gotta say, if he does get traded I understand but I will feel a bit sad. He has been one of my favorite players and when I think of the Rangers' identity, he definitely is a huge component of that picture.
Back when I was in college, I was sitting on my couch in my apartment, watching the NHL draft when the Rangers selected Kreider. I remember two very distinct things after the Rangers selected Kreider. The first was Lou Lamoriello standing up in frustration at his table when the Rangers got him. The commentary even said how they saw a noticeable and riled up Lamoriello, because the Lou wanted Kreider bad. The second thing was shortly after that, the production crew threw up a screen that listed the speed ratings for that entire draft class. They used a 10 point scale and Kreider was rated as a 9.8, while the second fastest skater was something in the 8s. Pierre was raving about the speed of Kreider and saying how he decimated everyone in that year's ratings.
Fast forward to when we finally saw him play for us in that playoff series (I think it was against the Senators). I remember when he scored a huge goal for us in that series and then finally when we played the Devils, he had a number of huge moments. In one of our home games, Pierre literally said on the broadcast "A star is being born" shortly after Kreider scored a breakaway goal against Brodeur for us and then dropped to his knees and was roaring like a monster on the ice. I think I've seen this actual moment in some people's avatars here.
Well, if he's tenure with the Rangers is over, he has given us some great moments of entertainment.
