Chris Kreider spoke with the media in Montreal today and said that his only regret about the play that injured Carey Price and knocked him out of the series was that he didn’t score.

That's what I like to hear.

It is kind of funny but he also said this immediately after the game:

“So, Nasher did a really good job of chipping the puck out,†Kreider said of the rush that led to him barreling into Price. “I thought (Alexei) Emelin was coming across pretty hard so I chipped it ahead. It wasn’t really sitting for me, so I had my head down trying to settle the puck. I put it wide and somehow lost my footing. I thought maybe someone pressured me from behind. I seem to have an issue staying on my feet on those, but then I went in skates first and I just had too much momentum and couldn’t really avoid him. It didn’t feel too good for me either.â€

Probably just trying to be diplomatic and nice but funny to juxtapose those two statements

Can't believe Kredier being accidentally tripped into the goalie has turned him into public enemy number #1.

It's like the Montreal fans have been ignoring all the evidence showing that as well. Blame Emelin for tripping him, not Kredier.

If they're using it as some kind of rally point, then I could sort of understand. But, if they legitimately think Kredier ran into Price on purpose, then I don't know what to say.

A Devils fan suggested to me yesterday that Kreider should dial it down a notch. I asked him back what he would think of a Devils player dialing it down a notch. Always people with advice--maybe he should try to help out Lou with some player personnel decisions--Lou looks like he needs some help.

As I see it this is the problem. Kreider found himself busting through the Canadiens defense at least 3 times in the last game with a clear path to the goal. Another time he was interfered with by Subban. The Canadiens defense had an obvious problem dealing with his size and speed. If it were Max Pacioretty breaking in on Lundqvist with our defense chasing him I'm sure that Canadiens fans would expect pretty much the same of him as what Kreider did to Price the other day--take the puck to the net as fast and as hard as possible. Don't get caught from behind--if the defense takes you down and you don't score you should at least get a penalty.

It's the Canadiens problem how they want to deal with Kreider like it is our problem how we want to deal with Pacioretty or any of the other Canadiens players. If they choose tactics that put us on the pwp--so be it. If one of their players decides to run Lundqvist--it will be up to the Rangers to deal with that--though in the event of that there are lines to be crossed--potential penalties, suspensions however deliberate or egregious those tactics are.

Yeah, like Stevens didn't go out of his way to lay big hits in the playoffs.

lol this whole thing is so stupid, kreider did nothing wrong

he got whacked and it should of been a penalty shot
the guy was one beast mode and was awesome

typical montreal crybaby antics
so what he got injured, ya its bad but it happens, it happened to tampa bay in the 1st round and montreal has an easy road

now when its turned around on them they cry foul over a play there own player is at fault for

Francis Bouillon who didn't play either is 38--he's very stocky and strong but he's also small.

Not that it matters much as he probably won't even see the ice, but as you mentioned, he's strong as an ox. He may be the biggest small man the league has ever seen. He plays like a guy twice his size.

Bingo. Just look at how their coach switched his tune from "accident" to this. Unfortunately some of their fans have really swallowed the BS and is now refusing to see sense. You really have to WANT it to be intentional in order to see it as being so.

Really? Couldn't he have just said something classy, even if he didn't mean it?

He's a speedy player who absolutely cuts to the net like few can. However he's doing so in what I and apparently a few others would deem a dangerous manner at times..

If there's no malicious intent in what he does, he's at least being irresponsible. Players are expected to 'let up' when approaching a defenseless player from behind - I personally feel the same should be apply to players skating directly at/towards a goalie. A goalie isn't bracing for impact, he's trying to stop the shot, and skaters should be aware of this..most seem to be.

It's obviously not black and white - in some cases players are definitely unable to stop themselves if they're very clearly and significantly interfered with. My problem with this incident is that Kreider has time to at least try and change direction to soften the collision, imo. To charge, full speed, at a goalie and then point fingers at the defense when you're barely interfered with is not OK in my book.

And, for the record, obviously I hate the Rangers. But I hate the Habs almost as much.. I'm being as objective as the next guy in this example.

It's insane to me, it's a case of Montreal not doing their homework on just how fast he is and instead of saying he caught them flat footed, it's immediately intent to injure.

Let me ask you this, in real time, as the play unfolded, not one person tried to scrum it up. Not one person went after Kreider. The play just kind of ended, why? Because it was clean.

CK turning into Superman.
Love it. Keep making me look good Chris.

Not that other most other Ranger fans here thought you were garbage 'cause you had not yet proved yourself --- that was an extremely small minority who look really stupid now ---- it's simply that I was always your staunchest advocate, even when things were not as clear cut early on.

Don't think even if the last game is repeated throughout and we win the Cup it would be enough for rookie of the year, but it will be glorious.

I'll elaborate/rephrase - this is definitely true. He's a speedy player who absolutely cuts to the net like few can. However he's doing so in what I and apparently a few others would deem a dangerous manner at times..

I am sorry but the above bolded is patently dumb.

You do notice where he hits Price? In his freaking leg. If he was aiming for Price wouldn't he take out his body? Hey ignore the part where Price's skate gets caught on the post. Ignore the part where if it doesn't get caught on the post Price barely gets hit. Ignore it happens at full speed in a split second. Hey why not skip all of that because it doesn't fit the I hate the Rangers narrative.

Hey I hate the Canadiens, always have and always will, it doesn't mean Weavers hit that knocked Brassard out was dirty because it wasn't. That's right your being objective, that's a laugher.

And then there's this to further enhance the ridiculousness of the above :

I just don't understand in what universe Kreider has time to adjust how he makes impact. I really don't.

It's like opposing fans think Kreider can levitate like he's David Blaine.

They differ in small ways, Lucic takes goalies shoulder to shoulder, Chris K tends to baseball slide into them. Everyone does it a little different.

I don't see how this post is still up here when it's a troll post. But if your pathetic defenseman on your garbage team could defend properly against Kreider and didn't trip him, this wouldn't be a problem. Blame your pathetic team.

With posts such as "sit Lundqvist" not even Kreider becoming Howe 2.0 can make you look good. And rookie of the year is a regular season awarded voted on in the regular season.

Should've been a penalty shot, much like the goal Kreider scored when Kuntz pushed him into Fluery.

Oppossing teams dont realize how fast and strong Kreider is in route to the net.

Dont impede him or better yet try to actually defend him without impeding him and you can protect your goalie.

Kreider is a weapon on the ice.
