Yes but Lucic and Kreider aren't similar players, except that they're huge.

Right, but Rangers fans wanted a physical big player that can score. On that end Kreider sort of fits the mold. Not as physical as Lucic, more of a skill guy (not that Lucic isn't skilled).

Lucic is a dirty player and is overall, a bad guy off the ice as well. He also has no ability to generate offense for himself. He relies on having two players on his line set him up.

Kreider has the ability to create offense for himself. Lucic also has no ability compared to Kreider defense and forechecking wise. Basically, Lucic is going to park his dumb butt in front of the net, hope for tips and rebounds. He'll go hit a guy in the corner on a dump in. He can't do what Kreider does on the forecheck which is force defenseman to constantly rush passes which result in turnovers. When Lucic doesn't fight or score, he's basically useless. I saw at least 15 to 20 games this year where Kreider didn't score but goals were the result of his corner work or forechecking. There were games he was dominant he didn't even have a point.

Miller is going to be a lesser version of Kreider which is pretty good. He just needs to get his act together.

Lucic is marginally skilled. He's got excellent chemistry with David Krejci though.

Kreider has the potential to be a lot better. I'd rather Kreider's potential than Lucic's.

Doug Murray can pick him up with one hand.

He's a poor example though because he is literally just a blob of mass.

If the Habs play Murray, there will probably be a GA every shift he takes for them.

In that case, I welcome it in every way.

If they play Murray against kreider we won the series... At that point there looking for any answer to stop him and Murray is just gunna be a blurr on kreider's way to the net

As I'm sure you have all noticed, while his straightaway speed is the fastest in the league, especially for a guy his size, his balance is poor. He has trouble shifting and stopping well, which is one of the reasons why he has tumbled into so many goalies.

Doesn't matter, though, because what he brings is almost unique around the league. I was completely wrong about this player and expect he'll only continue to get better.

His balance is "meh", I wouldn't say it's poor. He doesn't have deer legs ala Boyle or Pouliot.

He's getting better with his shiftiness, like the play yesterday where he ran Price, he chipped it to himself and cut away from Markov to drive the net. He's got room for improvement there.

When I was watching him at BC I said his ceiling was Erik Cole. I'm sticking with that. Very unique player. This is why they wouldn't move him for Nash. Size. Speed. Shot.

I think someone mentioned Pacioretty once. I can see the comparisons.

Whatever his ceiling mat be, he's been great and bring elements to the team that we lack.

I'm sticking to the pacioretty comparison. Speed size and skill in both players. Also habs fans were very down on him when he was 22 similar to a lot of ranger fans.

I figured he'd be like Jason Chimera, but he's already surpassed him at age 23.

Is this what they call goalie interference?

Oh Kreider...

Serious question to the Lucic lovers on this board. Do you guys think Kreider has better potential as a player and power forward?

Their different players to me. Lucic is a monster in combat areas. Along the boards--in the corners--in front of the opposition goal. He has decent speed--an above average hockey IQ and a very good shot. He scores goals--and a lot of them are big ones for his team. He's also one of the better fighters in the league and there are really only a handful of above average NHL players who really fight well. That makes him very unique. Controlling his anger--some lack of consistency--they are two of his flaws. I'm not sure he's more than average defensively.

Kreider is no fighter but he is a power forward type. Extremely fast with very good hand skills. He has underrated playmaking abilities. His defensive play is a bit weak. First period yesterday the rest of the Rangers played great--he was a giveaway machine. 2nd period the Rangers weren't so hot but he played great. His line mates help him. Nash on the one wing keeps the defense pairing facing them on their toes--Kreider on the other wing has the flat out speed to drive them back. Stepan the playmaking skills to hit either in stride. This means Montreal's defense has got to almost always be ready to drop back rather than pinch when that line is on the ice. It means their forwards have to pay attention. The way it's going now--Stepan and Nash carry the puck up the ice and Kreider follows--this is allowing him to get to top speed by the time the play reaches the opposing blue line.

Kreider is also a guy who has the size and strength to stand in front of the net and stay there. That's been a big deal in getting the pwp going in the last few games.

They differ in small ways, Lucic takes goalies shoulder to shoulder, Chris K tends to baseball slide into them. Everyone does it a little different.

Eh, this situation kinda sucks. I'm not really viewing it as a "good thing" for the Rangers either. Kreider seems like a real good guy from all accounts I've ever heard about him, from people who went to college with him to the beat reporters to the players in the locker room. I don't think he does any of this on purpose at all so it gets under my skin that people make it out to be he's the Matt Cooke of goalie interference.

He might be able to be more careful but hockey has this stupid thing where everyone says "go to the net hard!" until something like this happen and then it's all "you have to be careful and protect the goalie! Reckless!" He's trying to get to the net for a scoring chance and he has guys pushing and slashing him, if he pulls up short he could be sacrificing a scoring chance, if he bulls ahead now he's reckless and a bad person.

Chris Kreider spoke with the media in Montreal today and said that his only regret about the play that injured Carey Price and knocked him out of the series was that he didn’t score.

That's what I like to hear.
