I dont think keeping Kreider is the worst thing in the world but Newhook from Colorado sure is tempting
it might be tempting but its also completely unrealistic

I don’t really see the bidding war besides Boston and Colorado. Both have picks at the very end of the round, Boston had a bad farm system, Colorado isn’t giving up their top prospects. The Islanders are the only team I see as a possibility but I find it hard to believe we would make a huge trade with them
That's the equivalent of trading Miller for a rental. Colorado isn't trading Newhook
. True plus I still have a feeling that they still want to retain him if they feel they can both compromiseI don't see the Rangers trading him on the Mom's trip which will be tomorrow's and Friday's game. I suspect as well that he'll play just because his mom will be up in the stands with the other mothers. Otherwise things would be kind of awkward.
If he ends up getting traded to Boston I hope theres a conditional pick on him re-signing with them. I think it's very likely he does assuming Boston wants to give him a contract.
I don't really think he is going to care frankly if it's the mom's trip. This is a billion dollar company he is in charge of...I don't see the Rangers trading him on the Mom's trip which will be tomorrow's and Friday's game. Boston has shit to offer. Their first is like 31st overall and their farm sucks. Great for Boston maybe lolThey have a couple of interesting prospects - whether they're willing to part with them or not is another issue. I doubt they move Studnicka but I think Beecher could be had maybe. Beecher + 1st + conditional is a pretty great return for a rental IMO

To be honest I don’t want to trade a Kreider at all. I’d rather trade Strome and SkjeiOut of curiosity, what do you think a rental Kreider is worth?

Especially given the risk that someone might get injured during the intervening three days, thus queering the deal.I don't really think he is going to care frankly if it's the mom's trip. This is a billion dollar company he is in charge of...
If someone offers him something great, he's not going to tell them to wait a few days till the mom trip is over.
My goodness when Kreider first came up during that Penguin series I was convinced he was going to incredible. He's had a nice run with us but paying anywhere close to 7x7 for his ages 29-36 years? No thank you.

Yikes..,....Please forget about Newhook. Even if Sakic blinks, you can count on Newhook or Byram as NOT being included in any deal.
Sakic is in an interesting position. While clearly within the Avs window and loaded with great young players, that window will be there for a while. BUT he has some of those players on GREAT deals and will need to start to spend soon and may not be able to afford them all. It does not feel like he is going to push all of his chips to the table and go all-in. But his best chances to win may be this year or next.
Sakic is in a different positoin than someone like Sweeney. I think that Boston's window is closing, despite having some excellent young players. They also have some vets that are on the other side of 30 and a fairly barren farm system. This could well be Boston's best chance. If anyone should be all in, it is him.
I get TB that Newhook would be a long shot but you have to ask Sakic what it would take...no? Would us sweetening it up a bit by including a Hank if Grubauer is hurt more than anticipated tempt Sakic? Maybe it's not Hank and someone else maybe a Fast I dunno but this might be the time Sakic goes "anti Sakic" and does the unexpected as he may feel that if doesn't pounce now and deal some of the future, the present will not be as successful as it could be.
Would you “overpay” to land a player like Newhook? Say by trading Kreider straight up?
Quantity is nice. A late first rounder is a 60% gamble, The Rangers need quality.
