I don’t really see the bidding war besides Boston and Colorado. Both have picks at the very end of the round, Boston had a bad farm system, Colorado isn’t giving up their top prospects. The Islanders are the only team I see as a possibility but I find it hard to believe we would make a huge trade with them

It only takes 2 teams and there are more than just those 2.

I don't see the Rangers trading him on the Mom's trip which will be tomorrow's and Friday's game. I suspect as well that he'll play just because his mom will be up in the stands with the other mothers. Otherwise things would be kind of awkward.

. True plus I still have a feeling that they still want to retain him if they feel they can both compromise

If he ends up getting traded to Boston I hope theres a conditional pick on him re-signing with them. I think it's very likely he does assuming Boston wants to give him a contract.

do you really think that JG is gonna trade a pending ufa without at least one conditional pick?

I don't really think he is going to care frankly if it's the mom's trip. This is a billion dollar company he is in charge of...

If someone offers him something great, he's not going to tell them to wait a few days till the mom trip is over.

Boston has shit to offer. Their first is like 31st overall and their farm sucks. I want to keep Kreider but if we are gonna trade him it has to be something that hard to pass on

They have a couple of interesting prospects - whether they're willing to part with them or not is another issue. I doubt they move Studnicka but I think Beecher could be had maybe. Beecher + 1st + conditional is a pretty great return for a rental IMO.

Great for Boston maybe lol

Especially given the risk that someone might get injured during the intervening three days, thus queering the deal.

My goodness when Kreider first came up during that Penguin series I was convinced he was going to incredible. He's had a nice run with us but paying anywhere close to 7x7 for his ages 29-36 years? No thank you.

Out of curiosity, what do you think a rental Kreider is worth?

as a Boston bruins fan coming in peace, studnicka is probably the only prospect that’s off limits unless it’s a relatively cost controlled young top 6 player with term coming back. Everyone else is pretty much on the table for any other type of deal.

Would you “overpay” to land a player like Newhook? Say by trading Kreider straight up?

Quantity is nice. A late first rounder is a 60% gamble, The Rangers need quality.

Yikes..,....Please forget about Newhook. Even if Sakic blinks, you can count on Newhook or Byram as NOT being included in any deal.

Sakic is in an interesting position. While clearly within the Avs window and loaded with great young players, that window will be there for a while. BUT he has some of those players on GREAT deals and will need to start to spend soon and may not be able to afford them all. It does not feel like he is going to push all of his chips to the table and go all-in. But his best chances to win may be this year or next.

Sakic is in a different positoin than someone like Sweeney. I think that Boston's window is closing, despite having some excellent young players. They also have some vets that are on the other side of 30 and a fairly barren farm system. This could well be Boston's best chance. If anyone should be all in, it is him.

I get TB that Newhook would be a long shot but you have to ask Sakic what it would take...no? Would us sweetening it up a bit by including a Hank if Grubauer is hurt more than anticipated tempt Sakic? Maybe it's not Hank and someone else maybe a Fast I dunno but this might be the time Sakic goes "anti Sakic" and does the unexpected as he may feel that if doesn't pounce now and deal some of the future, the present will not be as successful as it could be.

Like you say and I agree, the Avs window despite having all these talented players, might not be as long as it seems seeing quite a few of their studs are going to need to be paid.

The West as I said a few time in some other posts, is very winnable for the Avs as the Blues look vulnerable, the Stars and Vegas have their warts and so this year might just be as good a time as any that they will have to win a Cup.

We are also in agreement, Sakic is in a very interesting position. Does he go for it now as it seems like a Kreider would be a huge addition for them or does he stand pat. I'm betting he goes for it. I just hope he wants it so bad he might give us more than a Jost plus a #1 which will be a very late #1. I have to believe as well Gorton will want more than a Jost as well.

We'll see soon enough my friend as it's going to be pretty damn fascinating to see what happens at the deadline or even before it.

Has anyone here played organized sports before?

How can you not see that Kreider is an emotional leader? Points aside (and the points are there). How does that not compute? Do you not see his chemistry with Zibanejad? Do you not understand the leadership value in his presence - and continuity? Invaluable.

Strome, Skjei, Buchnevich...these are all replaceable parts that we are (debatably) better off without.

The only formula that I can entertain is if you're suggesting an upper tier prospect + 1st round pick can sway you. I can understand that. I probably still won't do it - but I understand it.

I don't know. If a team wants to trade us a rental, would adding a 4th liner or a goalie with 1 year left sweeten the deal enough to give up Kravtsov/Miller/Lundkvist? That's the scenario from Sakic' and Colorado's POV

I would do that trade in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, not many GMs in Sakic's position would. And for Sakic himself, it's probably a non-starter.

Agreed. I have a feeling this is the deal with maybe a player like Heinen coming back as well. Really can't complain if this does happen.
