He's no where near guys like Connor, Pac, Nylander, Tkachuk or Tarasenko and those guys are all $6.9-$7.25 Range. I just don't see how he feels he's in that ballpark.
Max Pac is the only one of those guys whose contract wasn't a RFA contract. And the past 3 seasons he and Kreider have slightly similar production.

Pac .34 Goals/G .69 Points/G

This is in line with what I heard that the asking price for a Kreider trade is sky high. Gorton asking for the moon. Great news!!
. Agree and he should ask for that. I don’t see anybody giving that though. Let’s be honest Boston is the most interested and they have the 31st overall pick and a bad farm system. Colorado has a similar puck but a better farm system but they aren’t giving up their top prospects. I still think unless he is asking for a crazy contract there is a good chance he stays

The analysts keep saying that Gorton hadn’t made him available which tells me they still are very interested in keeping him

I definitely think there's been hesitation on Gorton's part to trade him. He's had at least three deadlines, drafts and offseasons to move him since the letter came out to, but hasn't yet. I imagine he would have gotten more for Kreider last year when he still had term left on his deal. I think, like Edge has said, it's going to come down to numbers not a desire to keep him.

No doubt about it. Plus now other teams have made moves and that only really leaves Boston and Colorado which like I say doesn’t really appeal to me

He's gotta agree to the deal too. No way they let him walk at the end of the year without getting something for him. My preference is for him to stay but it takes two. I'm sure Gorton will find a trade partner if it gets to that, not sure how much we'd love the return though.

agreed.

It's almost like he's just going through the song and dance because it's the process and deep down he knows he's gonna sign eventually. Just seems like he's enjoying the spotlight a bit because it is nice to know you're wanted, but he'll cave. If I'm wrong, man I hope GMJG comes up BIG.
He probably doesn’t want to change anything because he’s on quite the steak right now. He’s being superstitious. Mostly kidding aside I agree. He’s also a really smart dude and playing his cards for the max effect.

SHAME on him for trying to get the most amount of money in what is very likely his last contact of his career.
It's not about the money, it's about being part of the team and doing what is best for the team and the goal they have all been striving for together all this time. I love capitalism, I'm not saying he's an ass for wanting money, he's just an ass for being unloyal.

Ok so SHAME on him for not wanting to set himself and his FAMILY up for life and get as much money as he's EARNED. Loyalty to his family or to the Rangers? Let's be realistic for a minute can we?

I don't know. If a team wants to trade us a rental, would adding a 4th liner or a goalie with 1 year left sweeten the deal enough to give up Kravtsov/Miller/Lundkvist? That's the scenario from Sakic' and Colorado's POV
I do not disagree. But context is needed. The big question is Where in te window does Sakic believe he is and is he willing to push all of his chips in if he believes that this is the best chance to win the Cup and he has the ability to land THE BEST difference maker on market to make it happen?

lol dude you and I both know he and his family were set for life when he signed his first NHL contract and have been, let's be realistic. His family isn't going to starve to death because the Rangers won't give him $7 million.

It doesn't matter. He's earned that money. Who are you to call him unloyal because of it.

I tend to agree with you but it's a tough call when you're not the one leaving 7m on the table. But at the end of the day is there really a massive difference between him making 67m or 60m over the course of your career? You get a good financial person and he's more than set for may lives. I'd say no, but I don't and will never live in that stratosphere unless I hit the lottery.

Maybe not yours.

Do you think anyone is qualified to tell another what is and what isn't enough?
Yeah "not mine" as if I'm in the minority here

I'm all for him maximizing his value. He put the work in and has every right to the value of that work.

That said, we can't just default back to the "real world" tropes. He's earned more this year than I will in my lifetime. It's not the real world.

I love when people get angry over other people's finances lol. I am not some libtard socialist, I am believe in capitalism and he should get as much as he can, but if he wants to win a cup with the Rangers in NYC and be immortalized the way guys like Leetch and Graves and Richter are, I think he could take a little pay cut.

Winning a cup in NYC is worth more than 7 mil, it will carry him for the rest of his life, that 7 mil will just be FU money.
