Kreider may have reached his plateau. The highest level of play expected from him is really not the issue. The up and down is a problem.
Don't tell me about "power forwards need time to develop" or get into some overly obtuse and b.s. explanation of line combinations being the problem.
Kreider has to play better on a consistent basis. I know some coaches might be able to focus on a project and help that player, but Kreider has been around a while, and we absolutely do know that he is capable of very good play. He is responsible for his effort, not the coaches, and not his linemates. Unless he is feeling lingering effects from his injury, his uselesness out there is squarely on his shoulders.

You can deny that Kreider has a significant impact on this team. He's inconsistent but that could be due to injury talking more about this season so far. But he's a very good second line player that can play on the first line. He may have some 30-30 seasons but regardless if he isn't, his speed and intensity is unmatched which makes him an extremely valuable player in the long run.

Where is that intensity in so many games? Hey, if he is injured, I understand. That is why I mention it.
I have been a big champion of CK, but it doesn't mean I don't notice a continuing problem.

I believe theres something amiss here. You arent dominant like he was for 2 weeks, get injured for 5 games and then come back without missing a step. Somethings wrong. Has to be, because he "got it" over the off season.

His first game back after the injury he had 2 assists and 5 shots.

In his next 4 games he has a total of 1 assist and 5 shots, so injury wouldn't appear to be what is going on.

He is easily the most frustrating Ranger in my lifetime. By far the best player on the ice in some games. Invisible in others.

On the plus side, he's still averaging a point a game.

Kind of surprised "everyone" thought he would be as unreal all season long. We have seen Kreider do something similar like he did early in the season in short stretches before. I think he is better than he has ever been but Kreider is inconsistent, no way around it and probably always will be.

He still gets the points and knowing that that kind of explosiveness is there is good. He can have some very impressive shifts and games. I will have to find a way to prevent myself from always wanting that full bore performance, and getting a bit bent out of shape.

Same here. Pre-Season and early this season have made me a bit greedy with my expectations. Have to learn to accept that Kreids is not the most consistent guy.

We continue to just completely and utterly agree about Kreider.

It's unreasonable to expect him to do what he did in the pre-season and what he was doing before he got hurt. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more than what you've seen from him the past few games. He's been pretty invisible post injury for whatever reason.

If he plays a solid twoway game and score 50+ consistently we should be happy. If he scores more than 60 we should be really happy.

Did Kreider have a concussion last time with the neck spasms? The Rangers were very careful bringing Kreider back into the lineup.

If it's still neck spasms and now they are doing tests, my guess is that he is undergoing MRI looking for something like a bad disc. Herniated or degenerative disc would suck.

I believe it was also mentioned that they're waiting 48 hours for something. No mention of where he even is.

At this point, I wonder if the Rangers are waiting for medical test results to come back.

I'm still not concerned.

Back/neck injuries are definitely tough. But this will be his 3rd day off. The Rangers don't play until Friday. 6 days. If he sits that one out to miss the road trip, Sunday is 8 days. I could see him being back then. Not saying any game is a given but I'd rather him rest against the likes of the Canucks and Jackets if it means him feeling completely healthy against florida

Crosby, Gagne, and Lombardi had neck ailments that gave rise to concussion-like symptoms. Physiotherapy, massage treatments, and injections got them back on the ice. The Rangers are probably having the doctors look into it, among other things.
