Three teams have received permission from the Toronto Maple Leafs to speak with Randy Carlyle.
The Ottawa Senators, who have interviewed him already, the Minnesota Wild and the Calgary Flames.

Murray is an idiot he will join Burke in Calgary while Anaheim hired crap again

It doesn't sound like Murray is going for an inexperienced guy. I'd love to see Sutter/Julien get a crack with this core. Some of the players on our team (Fowler,Getzlaf, Perry mostly) need a hard ass no nonsense guy behind the bench not someone who's going to pay them on the back

Sutter would be awesome. I think Julien survives in Boston, just think we'd have heard something by now, but who knows.

Other experienced guys on the market are kinda boring. Crow, Todd Richards, Claude Noel, Boucher, Wilson etc. A pretty mediocre market. I wouldn't mind Carlyle, as I've said before. I think Bob just promotes MacLean and calls it a day. I thought he was decent in Ottawa, he just did not work out with Spezza and Bobby Ryan at all

Thank god. Not that this comes as a surprise, as it he makes less than zero sense here.

Sad that the same 35-40 coaches just alternate positions in the NHL.

It's time to bring some Euro coach in.

I wonder if a guy like Jacques Martin would want his own bench? He's been an assistant coach/advisor in Pittsburgh for the last 4 seasons, but he has a LOT of experience of being a head coach (613-481-119-81). It's been five years since his last stint as a head coach, so I don't know what he's up to these days.

Like i said i am really for Hartley. I know that knowing Bob and our organisation, he will most likely go with McLelan or even Yawney.

I like Hartley because he always has had a strong character and after the last few seasons i feel that is what is needed here. Btw Hartley has won QMJHL, AHL, Swiss league and NHL championships.

Last two rookie head coaches this franchise hired worked out well, why not three in a row?

Also interesting that he was a one-time teammate of Getzlaf and Perry. Probably can't hurt.

Best news all day. I've read nothing but glowing reports about Green. It would also be refreshing to see a new face as an NHL coach mod
before dallas eakins took the oilers job he was once the hottest coaching prospect in the league....not sure how i feel about going with such a young coach, unless we're finally rebuilding the core

I think Eakins is a good coach. He just was at the wrong place. Honestly in my opinion no one would have had success with the Oilers that time.

i forgot green came back and played a handful of games for the ducks in 06-07

i still think they'll hire the walrus but green is an intriguing candidate. although i'm not sure if he's the kind of coach who could get the twins' heads out of their rears, especially considering he'd be a rookie head coach. boucher would be the best coach who could do that i'd say
