Why do people want Carlyle back all of a sudden. Makes no sense to me given how different our team has become.

Id take caryle back, hes a good coach and would prob do great with this roster or the build we have right now.

Getz is the problem tho... sooner the team notices that the better.

Perry was a much bigger problem than Getzlaf, but Getzlaf should wear an A not the C

I think perry cares a lot more, perry seems like he wants to win... and knows he shoulda have/could have played better. Getz seems like hes already got a ton of money and won a cup who cares.

Yeah, I was going to say something to the extent. There wasn't much "winning in the playoffs" in the last half decade of his tenure going on.

Ugh were getting MacLean as head coach huh? BM is a joke.
It's not like Boucher/Crawford were much more attractive options.

Lawless called Boucher to the Sens and BB to the Wild
Hopefully he's right about Carlyle getting hired http://www.tsn.ca/the-watercooler-all-quiet-on-the-expansion-front-1.485149

Hes not even speculating in this. He just hopes it ends up this way for the "Billy Martin" dynamic. Love how he says RC is the only coach to get the twins to the promised land. They've only had 2 coaches and the team that won had at least 3 HOFers!

No to RC. He was gruff and moody and didnt win anything when his HOF defense was gone. Hard to coach when you throw out Nieds or Pronger for 30 mins a night each. RC would be a step backward.

For the talk of RC getting the twins to start the season better, I just dont buy it. If I recall (and my memory is shaky!), the Ducks were pretty slow starters under him (except 2007) and had to battle down the stretch to make the playoffs.

When your stars reaction the the new coach would be "oh, not that guy again" you know you haven't hired the right person.

Also, hard nosed coaches don't work on guys like Getzlaf and Perry any more. They're past 30 and times are different.

Maybe Bob should coach the team. He could even save the team money by wearing two hats. Plus, he would no longer have anyone else to blame. Sounds like the prefect replacement for Bruce.

I don't know if Randy is the perfect guy, but it's incredible how many people dislike him both here and on twitter.

Wait, you mean he isn't going to come in like into a high school locker room, have the guys do some bag skates, yell at some people and our 30+ aged multimillionaires will put their heads together and say "you know, coach is right, if we actually work really hard together, we can do this thing, come on guys"...? All these sports movies have been a lie? :scared:

I don't dislike him at all. I just think that his system is outdated, that his success is overstated because people ignore that he had little to none of it without very high end players, that the current star players quit on him, and that his last playoff appearance anywhere was presiding over blowing a 4-1 lead in the last 14 minutes of the third period of a game 7.

Retreads don't work.

What's incredible about it? I find it more incredible that there are still enough who rate him due to a cup he won ten years ago with a stacked roster. He has been nothing special for us five years after, with a downwards trend of the game passing him by, showing no adjustment, eventually losing the room entirely, and he followed it up with a pretty terrible time in Toronto that has left him without a job for 18 months. He's not just not perfect, he's the bargain bin reclamation project of coaches - if he was a forward, Murray would be ridiculued to even entertain the notion. And for us, he's a worse fit than most of the reclamation projects Murray picked up over time.

Agree. Loved RC when the players bought into what he was doing. But he did have a lot to work with. I think its just time to try something different. Paul Maclean also doesn't make sense to me. Travis Green would be of interest to me. Especially if we keep Paul and Yawney as Assistants.

RC year 1 we beat a higher seeded Flames team in 7 games sweep the Avalanche before losing to a Oilers team with a great run that made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals and might of won if their #1G wasn't hurt in the Stanley Cup finals.

That was better then anything we had done with BB as coach.
