There's something there. Passes are getting fumbled all game long, the defense does not provide any offense (or defense). They look so messy, it is unfair to put the blame on 1 player exclusively.

Yup I agree.

He still looks very disinterested though... That's what caught my eyes and that's what is worrying to me.

He might still be the safest at number 1.. I don't know the other top prospects enough.. Hell, I don't know that much about him either.. I just watched two games

Shhhhh... Do not say his name out loud!

On the other hand, many first hand accounts have vouched for Wright's leadership and dedication... So I really personally do not know what to think.

I trust that our management will do the right thing.

I always hear on here from the "drafting experts" not to judge a player by one tournament, game or playoff series but you to judge a player by the body of work they have done.
If big mouth mcragg is worried about drafting Wright I feel very confident Wright is the Right pick
McCagg, the guy that had Mike McLeod #1? Yeah.

He’s clearly skilled. He has a good work ethic and emanates leadership. But for whatever reason, he just doesn’t seem to step it up when needed. Maybe he’s bored with the competiton. Fed up with his team. Has bad coaching. I don’t know but there’s some concern thete

I know context matters and McDavid played on a deeper Otters team but in McDavid's draft year he put up 49 points in 20 play off games o_O (Strome put up 34 points in 22 games which helped him go 3rd OA). Our boy Wright is at 13 points in 10 games
That's actually pretty similar to what RNH, Hischier and even Schnevikov did in the playoffs in their draft year. Slightly better than ppg, but not by much.

McDavid is just on a whole 'nother level.

Kingston made it close. Game finished 4-3. They scored twice in last minute. Wright picked up an assist on a PP on the 3rd goal. Otherwise an incredible ordinary night for him.
Was this game the average Wright game during the regular season, or was that a bad game?

It was pretty bad, but so was the whole team. Couldn't get much done offensively. Really didn't get any scoring opportunities and passes weren't connecting.

Last game Wright was better.

It’s hilarious how everyone just assumes Slaf, Jiricek and Nemec are just going to dominate the World’s and not struggle or have bad games. If they all have some suspect games or show some big flaws, then what?

I want to be clear it is Wright to lose. He is defacto the #1 overall IMO unless he really bombs during the interview process/psychological evaluation but let's just say that this type of effort won't fly in the NHL. I am not sure what Kent Hughes and the scouting team believe. It seems like the general scouting community are not so concerned either which might be something we are not aware.

The coaching hypothesis is a good one. We could see it with our own player under Ducharme. (Caufield). If you watched him prior to the coaching change you would also believe he is not on par to be a NHL player even though he had some small flashes here and there.

Then nothing. I know Jiricek will have a bad game but I know I've never had a viewing where Jiricek didn't try to make an impact.

Wright didn't try to make an impact last night. There's really no excuse for that barring an injury.

Kidney reminds me a lot of Ribeiro.

I agree with Dumais comment. 4th round for me.

All Kidney is lacking is maturity and to work on his body to get stronger in the right areas. I like his game and he's one of the better Q players but we have seen this before. He has to keep developing and not stall. I hope he hears the critics and this creates hunger to prove the doubters wrong. That's good development.

Dumais just don't skate well enough for me as a skilled smaller guy.

Also have to keep in mind that North Bay is one of the better defensive teams in the CHL. They are also the favourites of this series. The only player on the Fronts with more points than Wright against NB is Arcuri.

Yeah, I get that - it's just, where's the fire? Where's the will? Where's the want?

I really don't want a Pacioretty act again. I know what I'm getting from Wright in the regular season.

I mean we can say the same about Suzuki. They are like copies of each other. Nick doesn’t seem to play with urgency yet still leads the team in the playoffs. Just because they don’t go balls to the wall like Lehkonen doesn’t mean they aren’t doing well.

Suzuki does want the puck on his stick though. Suzuki holds it and looks for plays. Wright's not doing any of that.

Prospects in playoff action tonight:

- Kidney @ 6PM ET (Game 5 vs. Halifax): Whoever wins this moves onto the 2nd round to face Charlottetown.
- Mysak/Xhekaj @ 7PM ET (Game 4 vs. Mississauga): Hamilton can complete the sweep if they win tonight. Mysak missed last game to injury. We'll see if he's back tonight.

Also tonight @ 8PM ET, Winnipeg vs. Moose Jaw. If Winnipeg wins, they will move on and face Guhle & Edmonton in the Conference Final.

Wasn't there a wise fictional character who said " just do or do not, there is no try"
Yes there was

Always disliked Cole Huckins. another reason to do so. Halifax ties it with a Huckins throw in the stands stupid penalty.
