CHL can now play NCAA - change everything !

the high end talent will continue to go the chl route and stay there until they go pro. NCAA will get the leftovers who aren't quite ready for pro or don't want to risk being stuck in the echl at 20.
Weird comment. Go look at the top 5 picks from the last 5 drafts and tell me where the high end talent is?

So this was recently sent to me (hey if I'm wrong I'm wrong). I really do not know who this NCAA Insider is so I reached out to my source within the B.C. hockey program....he is vehemently denying this....but say this is true....how much will they have to offer McKenna?

The thing about hockey NIL offers is how many (of already few) will be willing to give top end guys significant money to be a one year mercenary? Considering most of them would just be one and done & then off to pro.

Considering not every top guy at BC is on a full ride, it's hard to imagine they would spend so much money for a kid who will only play one year. Not saying it cant happen, but there is the possibility of roster players who arent getting full boat starting to get disgruntled.

Pretty sure this is a joke...money just isn't there, even at B.C. for that kind of expenditure. Misa would also have to receive an O-1 visa in order to collect...and even then doubtful.

I don't think it was supposed to be "surprising". Just a note of another 2004 commitment.

Misa is the interesting one to keep an eye on...

I think all of the top end CHLers are worth keeping an eye on. Very interested to see how many of the blue bloods/prominent programs are actually recruiting guys such as Martone, Misa, Schaefer, Carbonneau, Spence, Desnoyers, Smith, McQueen, O'Brien, Lakovic, Bear, Martin, Schmidt, Aitcheson, Fiddler, Ravensbergen, Ivankovic, Cootes, Reid, Zonnon, Kindel, Nesbitt, Huang, Romano, Behm, Brzustewicz, Lam, Gavin, Kilfoil, Veilleux, Hopkins, Czata, Obobaifo, Nobert, Quinn, and plenty more. That's 35 CHLers who will be drafted in 2025 most likely. I don't expect the NCAA to go 0/35, so we'll see how many of those listed will end up in the NCAA, even if just as 1 year mercenaries.

So you reached out to a “source within the B.C. hockey program” to ask about a prospect who has been linked to BU? No wonder this “source” had no knowledge…

A good chunk of those guys are getting signed out of the gate. Of those that don't get signed right away, how many of those would do well in the NCAA at 18? 1 or 2 of them?

Stated earlier that many of these players have been approached already. Like you, I do expect at least a few of them to eventually end up in the NCAA (before they age out of the CHL). Many of them are waiting on the draft (and where they will go) before any decisions are being made. As for Misa, everything I've heard from reputable sources is that there is no commitment to B.U. or any college program.

Also Marek is reporting that the decision as to whether or not to allow Muskegon and Youngstown in will be handed down before the end of the month.

I did reach out concerning this to B.U. but crickets....but was told that there is nothing about Misa so not sure where Robinson is getting his info.....

Colby also seems to think this is B.S.

I never get the “this is 100% false” rhetoric. Unless you are suggesting it was made up out of thin air, which doesn’t seem like something the guy who runs EP would do, what’ his incentive to put out something 100% false?

Most likely, there’s some level of truth to it. Maybe not completely true. Potentially mostly false, but 100%? Seems unlikely and simply uncalled for to go after someone with a good reputation in that manner.

Oh okay so you have separate sources at BC and BU? You just have guys plugged in at separate big-time college hockey programs who are arch rivals that you are individually comfortable enough to contact when there are rumors online and they are in turn willing to substantiate those rumors to you? Do I have that right?

Well, I really don't know much about Cam Robinson and I'm not really sure where he got his info but I haven't heard or seen anything to corroborate it. Looks like Colby (who obviously still maintains close ties to B.U.) hasn't either so.......

Um not sure if you realize this but there are a TON of people with close ties to BOTH programs so YEAH!
Look I know this is a public form and we are under a cloak of anonymity (which gives all of us a bit of freedom we wouldn't have) and I'm not trying to say I'm directly tied into either program or the coaching staffs but yeah, I do know a lot of people in the hockey world and yeah, some of them are tied in to NCAA programs like B.C and B.U.

He doesn't need to have an incentive. He could have just been dooped or is just wrong.

You said you reached out to a “source within the B.C. hockey program,” and that you “reach[ed] out . . . to B.U.” The language there suggests you are speaking to representatives of the individual colleges and not just people who generally are involved in their Massachusetts/Boston hockey scene and have “close ties” to both programs.

It sounds like there's gotta be some truth to it & people at Boston University aren't going to confirm anything that isn't over the goal line yet. The hockey world is so secretive with some of this stuff, which is quite odd compared to other sports where recruiting, offers, interest, etc are pretty public knowledge.

I guess it's just the awkward stage where teams across multiple different leagues don't want to step on each others' toes and get accused of tampering (even though there's no punishment in this case most likely).

Sorry, should have said close ties to the B.C. hockey program (with an intimate knowledge of what is going on) but not the actual coaching staff.

Maybe but he's the only one saying it and no one else

But logically putting it together, it doesn’t make sense that he’d have been fed something that is 100% wrong and made up out of thin air.

What reason would there be for it? Not to say it doesn’t happen, but “incorrect reports” from journalists usually have some degree of truth to it.

So I’m not saying that he’s set on going to BU. Maybe it’s unlikely, but do I believe there have at least been some exploratory discussions? Probably, yes. I definitely don’t believe the report saying “100% false” because logically speaking that assertion doesn’t track.

Cam probably got some info that has truth to it. Colby Cohen (BU alum) likely reached out to the program and they "100% denied" that it's a done deal, but likely aren't denying that the conversations are taking place. Just seems that the Terriers want to keep things as secretive as possible, as most in the hockey world have historically.
