Wow, he is 1 only 14?!
Top CHL import pick in a few years?
A few Brits get drafted in the CHL import draft but not very often and this tends to be when they have been playing junior in Canada already. I cannot see him leaving the UK at the moment.
What age is the CHL Import draft for?
This isn't a History of Hockey thread... in fact it's the exact opposite.
I haven't read through the entire thread but I was wondering people's thoughts on who the next prodigy on defense would be? Bobby Orr being one... who qualifies as a young defender to pay attention to, that isn't simply a sleeper prospect who would eventually develop into a top blueliner?
How old is he now. Brick is for 11-12 year oldsI get to see a few younger kids, not sure if prodigy, but I first noticed a 6 yo kid from MInny a couple years ago. I see he is going to Brick this year as an underager, plays D.
Of course, too young to tell, but I was struck by his maturity and attitude.

Has anyone ever heard of Ryan duret? I played on his team probably 6-7 years ago, he was unreal. Absolute phenom, dominated everything. Googling him now his career hasn't really panned out. Man oh man was he something back in the day.
I think he might be on this roster. One of the forwards called out by name is a member of my local association. He'll likely be a Pee-Wee A as a fifth grader next year.8 yo going on 9 now ('06 birth year)
I think brick is for '05's and '06's this year (but not very many teams bring much in the way of the younger year).
Speaking of "The Brick", how good is it at predicting the future success of 8-10 year old skaters? Actually, pretty good.

I have a feeling that four or five of these kids will be D1 players. One or two will be NHL players. Check back in about 10 or 11 years.
McManus, Chmelevski, Tkachuck, Hutsko, and even Cayla Barnes. I just think it's cool that they can identify even a small percentage of future high level players at ages 9-10.Who specifically are you focusing in on from the 09 Brick tourney?

If it was an '05 kid, it's probably the same forward from my local association who's playing with the Minnesota Blades for the Brick. He was playing for Miracle Gold at the Whistler tournament last season. He definitely would have stood out. There was a skater on that Miracle Gold team that really stood out, can't recall his name right now.
Don't know anything more about him than I can google. If he was a Minnesota kid... maybe.Hutsko is a local prospect, although I am curious if he played all his youth hockey in NJ because he played for the Detroit Redwings team in his Brick season. If you have more info on him I'd love to know.
Yes, the '05 team. What was remarkable was that it was a very good team, there appeared to be a different skater on the team who was a level above the other kids, and then this kid was another level above that.If it was an '05 kid, it's probably the same forward from my local association who's playing with the Minnesota Blades for the Brick. Thanks for the link. Watched Saskatchewan beat Minnesota 4-3 yesterday. For Minnesota, I'm now positive it's the same standout forward you saw playing for the Miracle Gold in Whistler (#7). Not sure if he's a child prodigy, but he was the best player on the ice for this game anyway.Maybe this post should go in another forum, but it looks like the Brick games will be streamed on the pointstreak website.
EDIT: #18 from California was the best player in this game... and he's tiny!
He kinda sucks now
Well he's ok, just like everyone else. The team he is playing in that video was about 30 minutes from where I live. So is he like famous or something?
Keiran Brown will play for Iowa Wild AAA U16 next season
Think he could have gone somewhere better but otherwise he would have been stuck playing against the same kids he destroyed last year, as the EIHA in their infinite wisdom decided to move from even number age groups to odd numbers. So all the u14 kids he played against last year would be in the U15 age group with him this year.
