I remember a tv special on Russian hockey a couple years back, and they feature a kid named Zhenya Kuznetsov who was tearing up his league at age 12.

Hockey nomad goes to Russia? that was Evgeny Kuznetsov of the Caps.

We need a thread for all child protogies as there's going to be 100 next Gretzkys, Crosbys, Lemieuxs, etc. Once they get drafted to a junior team or commit somewhere I say then we can make a thread.

I grew up playing with a "child prodigy". He ended up as a ppg player in major junior and never played higher than echl. It takes a lot of hard work to live up to those expectations.

lol every time this thread gets bumped, people mention the same kids who were mentioned before.

:amazed:

What's a standard 1st liner's production in a league like that?

When you put his numbers beside the top players that have gone through the system over the years, he's at the top comfortably.

Could become a highly skilled power forward by looking at his penalty minutes

Who was it?

Kid is playing against house league players. Put him in a AAA league in the GTA and see how he does.

The dude is actually drafted by Florida Panthers (2nd round) and is currently doing over 1 PPG in the WHL :help:

He was tearing up U12 since the age of about 7...I can only imagine that being his fnial year in U12 he was so far ahead that even his team mates could not keep up with him! The whole team only scored 132 goals that year! Edit, not his final year of U12, he played another and scored 141 goals and 32 assists....just bad teammates!!

Age 9: 16gp 84g 27a 111p
Age 8: 13gp 78g 24a 102p (division 2)
Age 7: 16gp 31g 9a 40p (division 2)
Age 6: 13gp 6g 9a 15p (div 2)
Age 5: 5gp 0g 0a 0p (div 2)

He first started skating with the U12s at the age of 3...

Not sure where you got those numbers?

they have 18 games in u16 & he currently has 3PPG (5-6-9-15). That comes to 54 points & he still hasn't played against the bottom feeders yet.

I am asuming some U14/U16 may overlap so he cannot play them all...

There's only 1 in March that conflicts to the point where he wouldn't be able to play in both on the same day (like last week) and I would hope they'd let him play vs. one of the best U16 teams > one of the worst U14 teams.

Fair enough, I'm not so up to date on the fixtures etc.

I hope he can continue to develop at the rate he has so far...lots of debate about nature/nurture of these young guys, I know Tony Hand was doing OK when he got drafted but he was playing against men at age 14, my worry is that Brendan Perlini has had a magnificent rise in his talent levels since he moved back to NA....if Kieran could get the same - be it here or NA or Europe then he could make it...long time to go but I what plans his parents have for him? Shattucks in a couple of years?

You'd have to ask them.

For what it's worth, Sam Duggan is doing pretty well for himself in Sweden and he didn't leave until he was 16. He's leading his team in scoring on their way to their first birth in J18 Allsvenskan in 10 years while playing some J20 games in SuperElit.

These kids are impressive, and I hope they make it far... But I know a bunch of kids who scored 2ppg on tier 1 U16 teams who scored 0ppg in USHL and OHL... So the stats can be misleading

I wouldn't read too much into that. In fairness he assisted 75% of the goals he didn't score himself. So that season as a 10 year old, he had 130 points on his teams 132 goals.

There is only a handful of kids from that 2011-12 team still playing in Bradford. There are kids coming from other organizations to play with Brown and his assist totals have gone way up the last 2 years as his team has got better.

This season he has 50 points between the 2 levels & 26 of them are assists.

Easy for British kids to rack up the points playing games against kids who can hardly skate, Kiernan Brown is no different, our junior setup is a flamin joke. Put him in against AA or AAA North American boys and he would hardly see the puck, don't believe the hype.

Another '01 born Brit is currently playing in Ottawa AA where he has 30 points in 16 games and is leading the league in goals with 20. Last season he had 3 points in 3 games in England U16 North 1 (Brown had 31 points in 13 games). Pretty impressive for a kid that can hardly see the puck against those superior North American boys. :help:

You don't know what you're talking about.

Kieran Brown is now on 33 goals and 62 points in 13 games played in U16, 73 goals and 112 points in 12 games played in U14

His U14 teammate Alex Graham has 96 goals and 112 points in U12, but just 23 goals and 34 points in U14 playing with Brown

Very impressive stats and leads the league in scoring too!

Will be interesting to see whether he sticks in the UK or tries to go abroad.
