hahahahhahahahahha jesus man we need a new coach and its not even because he's a bad coach when it comes to coaching the actual game, he's amazing at playing the matchups and stuff. He is completely inept at making roster decisions and stan freaking bowman won't take away his little toys Mashinter and Rosi. Not only that, he adds another freaking plug to the mix.

He must have really fallen apart in New Jersey, because in Nashville he was basically the perfect fourth liner. Trotz always envisioned turning undersized guys with lots of heart from pests\enforcers\agitators into utility bottom sixers that could PK, etc...he never succeeded with Tootoo or Rich Clune, immediately coming to mind, but Toots was good for going out and knocking some people around and could occasionally pop in a goal with a pretty decent shot.

In 2014-15, he definitely had some good moments. He played alongside Cammalleri - Zajac and showed some great chemistry with Cammalleri. He put up a good amount of points as well.

Last year, he just didn't have the same impact. He's got some skill and a deceptively good shot, but he is really lacking in the the IQ department and with his defensive reads. If it wasn't for that, he could be a pretty good player. Almost every time he was on the ice even back to that 2014-15 season, it seemed like he spent the entire shift in his own zone.

I know that Chicago is looking for cheap options to fill out their roster but is he really better than Hartman, McNeill, Kero and the other kids down in Rockford?

Doubtful. This is cheaper than their ELC guys though.

Tootoo was never the hockey player that he or Trotz thought he was. He was given every chance under the sun in Nashville. He played on every line and was even opposite Peter Forsberg on a line for a while. He is a goon pure and simple. Any respect I had for Chicago has lessened and that was not much. As much as I dispise the Hawks I dispise Tootoo more.

I meant prospects with a higher ceiling. Outside of Schmaltz and *maybe* Hartman, the other forwards are warm bodies at best.

Pretty much every prospect that played forward last season outside of Baun has a higher upside than Jordin Tootoo.

If it's a two-way then this is a good signing imo. If anyone can get Tootoo on track it's Quenneville and playing for a team like the Hawks. This is actually a really nice risk to take imo.

Tootoo was a very effective agitator and energy guy, nothing goon about him. Guys like Cote, McKenzie, Grimson... those are goons. Tootoo made his share of boneheaded plays and cheap shots, but he also had a fair amount of hockey skill. He certainly never gave Preds fans any reason to despise him.
