Did Chicago really trade their 2022 1st? There’s no way. They’re probably pretty comfortably the worst team in the Central next year.

Edit: They might challenge Arizona, so I take that back.

So if we think that the last pick of 1st round and Chicago's 2nd are not that much different value wise, it's basically Boqvist and two 1sts (one guaranteed to be pretty high at 11th) for Jones. That's a nice haul.
What about the 6th?

Is this Bowman salting the earth before he's fired for the whole sexual abuse coverup? Or is he just trying to one up Fletcher and Drury to see who can make the most hilariously awful trade of the day? Either way, what a clown.

What a tough day for Chicago fans. That is a huge haul for Columbus and then the contract extension on top of that.

According to Pierre LeBrun that 1st in 2022 is conditional

Full trade: To Chicago: Seth Jones, the 32nd overall pick tonight, a sixth-round pick in 2022 To Columbus: Adam Boqvist, first and second-round picks this weekend, a first-round pick 2022 (if the pick is top 2, it becomes a 2023 first round pick instead)

Columbus did very well for a player 1 year from UFA, who wanted out. Good start to a rebuild along with the Foligno/Savard deals.

As for Chicago, its a lot to pay but you get a 26 year old #1D who will probably be the face of the franchise if Toews/Kane days end.

So it's not two shots at Wright. That's fine. Still a good return. :)

Dude... that's brutal. Good in Columbus, but this trade/extension alone should get Bowman fired.
Jones was allowed to talk to other clubs so this was probably the market value for him. He is a 26 yo top pairing RH Dman
Maybe 600K too much for extension and a 1st too much in trade but not a bad deal overall.

First let me start by saying this I am a fan of Seth Jones. I think he is an excellent shutdown top pairing dman.

That being said the contract they gave him is ridiculous. The amount they paid for him is also ridiculous.

I have a serious question, does Chicago even make the playoffs next season when they are back in the insanely tough Central division?
