If only posters on here listened to the guy who watched him last year at Wisconsin instead of clowning him repeatedly…

Oh well. It just revealed that some people’s opinions on prospects should be taken with a grain of salt.
I recall you, the guy watching him regularly, complaining about Stramel being worthless several times last year. You said some pretty harsh things about him, IIRC. That's actually the main reason I was concerned about his development last year.

For a brief moment I fell for the mob take on it instead of believing my eyes.

Always better to meet expectations than to not.
The issue I always struggled with was how can I expect him to produce points like other 1st round draft picks when he is playing 8 minutes a night with guys like Mehlenbacher and Dyck. Every time Hastings would say that he needed to get him more minutes, it would be bumping him up to the 3rd line for a period the next game and then moving him back to the 4th line in the 2nd period.

I don't trust the coaches on an absolute basis, but a do trust that they get to see them practice everyday. I generally don't think that they're going to put a player in a spot to the detriment of the team, and yes, I'm saying that knowing Hastings' affinity for older players. So, yes, his role was a detriment to his production, but was that role earned or unearned?

I'm looking forward to the Minnesota/Michigan State games to see for myself, unless those are only on that Big10+ bullshit.

Well, the guys above him were two players Hastings knew from MSU and a 5th year player. He was also injured pretty early in the season. The odds were definitely against him from the start.
