Expensive for the Flames, but I like it. I think that Lazar can still be a good 3rd liner.

Well, was a bit surprised about the comments on this thread. Yes, I haven't seen too much Lazar playing, and yes, his stats are awful, but it's way too early to tell who won here.

2nd rounder for a guy who is 100% a bust. The trade market is real.

Lazar is ECHL level. I don't even know if he could hack it in the ECHL actually, but he sure can't in any other pro league.

Lazar has had a tough stretch but is still young enough to turn it around and fits a need on the Flames while falling into the same age bracket as the core they're building around. Jokkipakka had worn his welcome out this year. Second may be steep, but this draft doesn't have a strong group at all. Way to early to call this a win for either team.

Binghamton's top blogger wrote that Lazar was head and shoulders above all our other AHLers when he was down there.

How does it feel to talk our of your ass?

You should watch some AHL games if you think Lazar might not even be able to cut it in the ECHL.

100% bust?

Lazar just isn't going to be a top line forward. He wasn't expected to be, sens were hoping for a middle 6er with grit and drive that plays with energy when they drafted him. Looks like his ceiling has dropped a bit, but he still has potential to be a legit third liner, maybe one who can sub up when needed.

People are so quick to declare players busts, the kid is 22 years old. A change of scenery might be just what he needs.

I hate to give up on him, but the sens get a pick after depleting their stock patching holes, and add a depth defenseman. Good trade for both teams I think.

Keep in mind players can adapt and evolve when changing teams. From Ottawa alone, Ben Bishop, Brian Elliot, etc.

Hope Lazar can turn it around. Ottawa will use the 2nd well, I like their drafting.

Probably the type of fan whose never even seen an ECHL game haha.

Some guy on twitter agrees with him though

Also probably the type who hasn't bothered to pay any attention to Lazar.

i can't claim to have seen lazar (barely remember his world juniors) but the 2nd stings. it's been said it's a weak draft but it's still not good to go in the draft with no 2nds or 3rds. i guess we'll see. the silver lining is that this shows that the flames likely don't care about exposing brouwer (please l.v. take brouwer)

Bishop was good in Ottawa and well liked...Eliiott was great one game, then garbage the next. Lazar at no point has ever been good. We're happy to send him to Calgary.

Big time. He's right though if this gives us reason to expose Brouwer in expansion then it's a huge win despite us giving up to much for a really meh player.

That's too bad. He can warm the seats in the press box, I guess. We already have 7 D-men.

I think Brouwer was going to get exposed no matter what. Given his salary he's likely not going to be a major target.

Lazar gives them some insurance. After him it would be Shinkaruk and Poirier who are even bigger question marks.

The Flames have done well drafting Cs and LWs lately but they can't draft a decent RW.

Like I said players can adapt and change in new scenery. Hope he turns it around.

Boy, that Edmonton Oil Kings team looks horrid now.

Move was probably made so Sens could protect another player in expansion draft. With White and Brown in the coffers Lazar whom I like but he doesn't have the upside of those other 2, it made him expendable.

Decent return and better strategic move for Ottawa. Pick and prospect fill both needs. And Maybe Lazar can thrive in Calgary.

Love Lazar as a person, but he's been painfully bad this season. The only hope I see for his career is for him to transform himself into a defensive specialist. I hope he finds a niche for himself because he's such a great person(met him in person, one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting)

It's not just with the Sens that he was bad though, the Sens gave him the chance to find his confidence in the minors but he was really bad down there as well.
