"top 5 defenseman. Over the past three seasons he's been the best defender by the numbers in the league. Better than Doughty, Vlasic, Keith and Hedman defensively. He can also score you 50 points over a full season. Brodie is the most significant player to wins and losses on our team as we saw when he missed the first part of last year and we couldn't even beat bottom feeders like Arizona and Edmonton." Double Dion, another delusional flames fan.

what is this then?

Yes... best defensively by the numbers in the league over 3 years... that doesn't mean he's the best defenseman... that just means he's been the best defensively over that span, not overall...

And yes, Brodie has been the most significant player to wins and losses for the Flames... just like Karlsson has been to the Sens, Subban (was) to Montreal, Doughty to LA, etc... that's not a wrong statement at all? You're just saying a whole bunch of gibberish at this point.

Lol at ur comment, trying to explain madness must be hard.

he said best defender in the league!!! BEST!!!! He is not even top 10, and def NOT any where CLOSE to how good HEDMAN and DOUGHTY are defensively. No where CLOSE!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

You need to learn how to read, dude. You're obviously lacking in that department. It's okay, though. I don't judge :)

He does not have the best defensive numbers over that period. Please provide a source for this claim because it strikes me as bogus. Are you referring to dCorsi Against, CA/60 Rel or what? Whatever the metric I'm almost certain Giordano has better numbers than Brodie and so do a number of other players.

I do love Brodie, but people really need to stop saying things like this.

Literally no one has said that Brodie is better than Doughty. Keep making up stuff :laugh:

You are too funny

I don't think Galchenyuk or Pacioretty are close to Brodie's value. For the record I wouldn't trade Brodie for Johnny Hockey and he's better than both players you've listed and younger.

I consider Brodie a top 5 defenseman. Over the past three seasons he's been the best defender by the numbers in the league. Better than Doughty, Vlasic, Keith and Hedman defensively. He can also score you 50 points over a full season. This guy said it.

You're correct. He's substantially better. When you're the best in the NHL you are better than everyone. Over the past three seasons TJ Brodie on average has been the best defensive defenseman in the NHL. OEL has been second. Doughty isn't even top 20 in defensive stats. Look at the numbers than come back and post some more emoticons.

Opinions vary from person to person, but facts don't change. No player in the league has been as good as Brodie defensively over the past three year according to the numbers. I'll trust facts ahead of some dude who likes emoticons.

Giordano does have better numbers overall, but if you go by 5-5 numbers Brodie is the tops over the last three years. Giordano is #3 behind OEL. Bear in mind this is averaged out over three years, not counting last year only. Erik Johnson was tops if you only count last year.

I just posted last year's numbers. You can change the year. It's also interesting to note that Brodie gets brutal zone starts and is still tops in the league over the last three years.

Habs don't have a guy, price included the flames would trade Brodie for straight up. Price is as good as it gets for goaltending,

hahahahha ok

but the Canadians are a garbage team. Last season proved that. With or without price the Canadians aren't contending for a cup(quote me on that and get back to me after this upcoming season) they'll be lucky to be a wildcard team.
Last I checked, the flames finished 5th last in the NHL while habs finished 4 spots ahead despite losing their best player Price for the season and leading the NHL in players injured a game. But tbh, i agree habs are garbage but idk how u cant call the flames that unless theres something worse than garbage??

Price is the better player, but the flames don't trade Brodie for him.
lol im speechless....

And whoever (probably this Legend fool) said flyer fans wouldn't trade provorov for Brodie.....gimme a break. The flyers can only pray he ends up as good as Brodie. Leave it to you to take ceiling potential as more value than actual proven play. Typical hf
If provorov ends up as brodie, flyer fans will be sad. They wouldnt trade him for TJ, trust me.

anyways, as i said, brodie is good but damn, flame fans really over rate him. wow.....

You and your little buddy Legend don't know enough about the NHL or pro sports to understand how a teams needs affects trade value. Goaltenders rarely, if ever anymore get their full value in a trade. I don't agree with it but it's the way it is. You guys can be as smug as you want about your precious Price but not a chance the Flames trade a guy like Brodie for a goaltender. Any goaltender. It's not a nessessary price to pay. The Canadians will still be a meh team with Price in net and ya, they have been better than the flames the past several seasons but get back to me after this upcoming one. The flames will finish ahead of the Canadians (with price). Can quote me on that and choke on your smug ignorance when the seasons over.

You wouldn't trade Brodie for ANY goalie, not even this goalie:

2022 Cup to Calgary

One piece of Hardware missing, that even this goalie has:

niemi-stanley-cup.jpg

Why is that?

Because goaltending, while important, is not more difficult to fill than having a strong skater group. There are more goalies who can suffice for a Cup Run than there are available starting goaltending jobs in the NHL.

Brodie is the heart of our skater group, period. It cost us a 2nd round pick to grab a goalie who has led the NHL in SV% twice. It cost our neighbours up north Taylor Hall to grab a blue-liner who has yet to hit 25 points in a season.

Price would be a sweet luxury but he would be a poor tradeoff for TJ Brodie.

The upgrade from Brian Elliott to Carey Price is small.
The downgrade from TJ Brodie to Jyrki Jokipakka is monumental.

If the Flames had more defensive depth, then I would consider trading Brodie for Price. As it stands, it would turn the Flames from a 3 dman team into a 2 dman team, with one of those dmen being in his early 30s. Terrible move to make.
