So the Oilers offered Versteeg a contract, but he turned it down and then turned around to sign with the Flames. Can't help but have a bad feeling about this as an Oilers fan.

Well hopefully they don't figure that out for the first couple games haha

Ha ha. Yeah, it would be nice for Calgary to keep it close. Those Oiler wins in the first two games would be boring without the traditional Oilers dud line giving away a couple of goals to keep it close.

I jest of course. These should be exciting games.

Should I pick him up in fantasy...?

I laughed at first, but there's a realistic chance he could play with Monahan and Gaudreau. In which case 40-50 points isn't out of reach for him.

It seems more like he's just less of a fit on your team. Top 6 possibility on Flames vs Middle 6 opportunity on Oilers. EDIT: Sorry, I guess a better phrasing should be, "more opportunity for him here".

Doesn't mean anything, just means you have legit top 6 RW options and we don't.

But this signing could add an element of nasty to the BOA, who knows. We will see how this signing turns out.

whut

wasn't he supposed to take yak's spot?

now he's supposedly taking a 1yr 950k deal with CGY?

going from PTO to playing with Gaudreau and Monahan?

lol wow

He's right. Brouwer is pretty much locked in with Bennett. Frolik with Backlund. That left either Ferland or Chiasson for the top line. This signing upgrades the #1 RW spot, and allows for both Ferland and Chiasson to remain in the bottom 6.

Oh love how fans like a player but once he is gone he is horrible. <3 btw im not a flames fan
Never said he was good or horrible. Oilers/Chia were mocked for signing a guy that no other team wanted. He would have been a good 3RW for the Oilers and now is pencilled in on the top line for the Flames

He was a spy all along with the goal of bringing the Oilers' secrets to the Flames. :sarcasm:

... Kris-crossed

:laugh::laugh::laugh: Nailed it.

Versteeg will look good on that top line, better than the rest of our scrubs anyways. Cheaper Jiri Hudler. Plus they find a way to sign him away from the Oilers which is always hilarious.

Well he did say he wanted to play close to home. Now hes just closer to home...but makes me wonder why he didn't just sign with the Flames earlier when it was reported they offered him a contract?

Wish he would've signed here. Oh well, hes a Flame now...so I hope Lucic, Maroon or Kassian mangles him lol ...maybe his "best friend" Brandon Davidson lol

Oiler current Forwards
McDavid
Eberle
RNH
Lucic
Maroon
Kassian
Draisaitl
Letestu
Caggiula
Pitlick
Hendriks
Slepyshev
Pakarainen
Puljujarvi
Pouliot
And they have not sent Lander down yet he cleared

So thats 16 Forwards 2 injured and the will start season with 13 forwrds 8 dman

and out of those forwards Versteeg is better than Pakarinen, Kassian, Letestu, Pitlick, Hendricks, Slepyshev(He hasn't had enough games to determine how good he is), Caggiula(hasn't played Reg season), and lots of Oilers fans say Pulji isn't ready.

Do the Oilers have something else coming down? If not, I feel like Chiarelli should have gotten Versteeg signed before he traded away Yakupov.

Flames gain is Oilers loss.

Thought Chia had him locked up. Would have been the first time this offseason I would have applauded Edmonton
