1. Lolz, so HFBoards gets the value wrong YET AGAIN!? Shocked. Shocked I say!

2. I figured he would get a 2nd and a cond 3th, similiar to Petry...so this is close but the value does seem a tad low.

Did Brouwer change his name? zero chance Frolik is exposed.

As for the trade. In case nobody noticed Wideman completely forgot how to play hockey. the flames could equip Stone with ski boots and a cricket stick and he would be a better #4 with Brodie.

That's the side benefit if they lose Brouwer

A 3rd rounder in a very weak draft for a 2mill cap hit Dman who has top 4 potential? Yeah massive overpayment...

Stone isnt a top 4 dman. if he was the return would have been higher.
the cost to acquire him was similar to that of a 3rd pairing dman

I'm pretty sure Treviling forced Arizona to make the trade now. There was talk that the Flames were buyers. Calgary is in the last wildcard spot atm with four teams breathing down their neck. Treviling wanted to get this done now for fear of losing that last spot from now till TDL.

The LarssonHall bulb mania hopefully it's now over. So some proposals will come back to reality...lol. who am I kidding. :biglaugh:

Good job Treviling

I was assured Stone would get a 1st round pick at minimum if there was retention.

I thought he would get a 2nd. 3rd w/ 50% retained? Yikes.

He probably would have if he had rebounded from knee surgery.

Yeah, he's playing better recently, but still not up to his pre-injury level. If he was a pending UFA last season going into the TDL before his injury you'd expect a 1st or 2nd + B prospect sort of value.

Bollocks.

Value goes up at the deadline.

I think you're struggling, here. He's played awful this season and with every passing month he's failed to get back on track, further diminishing the extremely high value he had last season. He suffered a catastrophic knee injury (relative to professional sports) and has not yet rediscovered his game a year later. Scouts have been watching him struggle month after month and have delivered this feedback to their GMs over time which is how we end up seeing this player sold for a 3rd rounder with a half off coupon. Something that 14 minutes months ago would've been inconceivable given his excellent play and extremely sharp development curve from his draft season until the injury.

Yeah, we were just talking about his return in the other thread.

Not even close. It's why I never claim to know what player will go for what return.

You simply can't predict it.

Polak managed two seconds last year lol

People always leave out the fact that the Sharks also got Nick Spaling, and the Leafs took back Raffi Torres.

Torres was a dead weight contract in the minors (as well as a bad PR/problem player) that allowed the cap freedom to later acquire Reimer.
Spaling's value had dropped significantly, but he was still probably a 6th/7th round pick.

So, Polak may have been the main cog in the trade, he did not pull in 2 seconds straight up

I have never understood how to read these charts. Like what does buried mean? Also what do those dotted lines represent? Chart just lacks info unless you apparently know what it is referring to already which makes it pretty useless.

Machinehead outlined it pretty well somewhere, I'll leave it to him to explain.

If he is at least even decent bottom pairing, that's all we need right now. Our 4-7 defensemen just have been pretty bad. Engelland is what he is, and does it okay, but Jokipakka and Wideman have been awful. Bartowski hadn't even played in the NHL this season and he looked better than Jokipakka outside of one gongshow of a shift.

I don't recall any coyotes fans expecting a 1st and a prospect. I could see i poster hoping for a 1st expecting Stone to regain form by the deadline. Unfortunately the injury was just too serious and Stone has been our worst RD. Most of us were hoping for a 2nd but honestly there is no way we can be upset with a 3rd with the way he has played. Honestly I trust Chayka and truly think the expansion draft is the reason he made the move now.

If Hanzal doesn't bring back a 1st or equal value then you guys can bash on us, because we all are expecting at least a 1st.
