There's no reason to give up on Koochie being our longer term answer as a 1a or even clear #1. He's still really young for a goalie and has stretches of absolute elite dominance. Long stretches at that too. Question is can he develop longer term consistency as that's where he's missing right now. And can he bring his lows up a bit higher than they are now.The borg has done a wayyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyy better job that can not be put into words patchworking the goaltending than RF ever did.
I think the hope was in the 6 seasons of patchwork we would have found an elite goalie somewhere in the draft.
It's not looking like we have an elite goalie in the system right now, but I do trust them to find someone to plug the hole if need be.
Not counting on that 100% and we should constantly be evaluating options at the position but I feel pretty decent about our young goalie pipeline (incl. kooch).
The issue this year really was relying on a guy like Freddie who we've known for a while now just cannot be relied upon.
