Has nothing to do with the damn Oilers, quit playing victim.

Err, so why bring them up in a completely unrelated thread?

That trade just made this entire board value D 2x as much as before, and x4 if they are RD.

You mean it made the board value signed D 2x as much as before? Because that's the only bearing the Hall/Larsson deal should have had on anyone's valuation of the trade market.

It's annoying.

Yes, I'm sure that's all it was. Seriously, if that's your only justification, you're not fooling anyone- we all know what you're trying to do.

I kinda feel bad for the Coyotes on this one. From my perspective they did everything right with Stone and end up losing, what should be a second pairing staple for 3+ more seasons, and only end up with a 3rd rounder for their troubles.

Injuries and bad luck. It isn't like they signed him to a big, unwarranted extension or anything dumb.

Oh well.

Are the Flames that thin on the blueline?.....Bartkowski last week and Stone this week?....depth guys at best.....isn't Stone a UFA in the off-season....an over-payment if that's the case.

DeAngelo is already better. Wood has a good chance at being better.

Rough luck for him with the injuries but he was always a little inconsistent.

I have to say I am surprised that Arizona couldn't get better than a 3rd and 5th at 50% retention. Not sure that I wouldn't be disappointed if I was a Yotes fan. Stone to a real contender for at least a 2nd seemed like a no brainer.

Oof, Arizona couldn't have waited til the deadline to try and get a better deal? 50% retention for a 3rd and conditional 5th is a pretty weak return.

I think the bigger problem is people don't watch the Coyotes and don't realize Stone is not a good 2nd pairing d-man.

Stone is a lot better than Sbisa for example....

Bartkowski was to meet expansion requirements.

Stone is now our #4, as it was known Treliving was looking for a RHD to play with Brodie.

Also, Stone makes a lot of sense to the Flames since he isn't signed for next year. There was no sense acquiring a D under contract, then having to protect that player in expansion along with Brodie, Giordano and Hamilton while exposing Frolik.

Also, Treliving would also at least have a sense that Stone is signable, as he (and Conroy) have said they weren't looking at adding rentals.

I like it from the Flames perspective. Cost was cheap and they can find out if he will work out with Brodie.
