Teams and the League can take note of the BC Lions new-ish owner. The team is better on the field with stable management but also killing it with their season opener splashes: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-place-sellout-inevitable-lions

I say all this with bile in my mouth as I dislike the Lions more than any other CFL franchise. But the guy's brought energy, eyeballs and wallets to their team.

The first order of business is to find a new owner otherwise there won't be any team name-- because there won't be any football team. The Elks will be extinct.

The Edmonton Nothingness will be the new handle. Gone from the football Universe.
Hearing that dealing with the City of Edmonton for some potential ownership groups is a problem.

Well, I don't know what the issue is but if they are trying to pressure the new owners into building a new stadium then they risk losing the football team for good.

Dealing with the city administrations in both Edmonton and Calgary has become a nightmare.

It was pretty irresponsible of the Master Grifter Rick LaLachuer to make those unreasonable comments about needing a new stadium.

His "best before" date was a long time ago. If there is a new owner then I hope the door doesn't hit R.L. in the a$$ on the way out.

In saying that about a new stadium he conjured up visions of expenditures that might add up to half a billion dollars in today's world. Who is going to invest that money in a CFL team that's on the edge? It would be financial suicide.

I can see RL potentially staying on with the new owner as a ‘trusted advisor’.

I don't think any potential owner that was successful through smart business decisions and some discipline will just throw money at it. As much as I don't like Katz, I respect his business decisions. He strong armed the former owners and city to get what he wanted. He bought up all the land around the arena, thats where his real money was made. He has made his team so valuable that no one locally can buy them. But thats the NHL.

A CFL franchise isn't worth much, but the stadium experience good from one game a year to the casual fan.

I hear that the books are bad with Esks, they were public on losing $15M over the past 3 years, but no one can account for lots of it. Rumor there is still debt to be determined, no smart business person is taking this on. Only someone with fake money like the Gliebemans.

Not sure if any of you listened to Ambrosie with Reid Wilkins last night but I listened to the pod today.

Beyond the normal tire pumping, two things stood out:
- he said the stats issue is fixed and working fine (and then he backpedaled a few times to say that it had glitches in a few preseason games but that that they are on it and committed to making it work. Lol.
- and the second, and it absolutely floored me, but Reid asked him what games he is going to this weekend and he said he’s not going to any season openers because he’s going to the Ditka Gridiron Dinner this weekend in Chicago. I went to the Ditka site and he’s not receiving any awards (surprise, surprise) so as Conmish (this was originally a typo but I chose to leave as is because I think it’s appropriate for this man) he is skipping the league he oversees opening weekend to basically network, for his own purposes.

What a fraud.

Can't stand him. He really hasn't accomplished much during his time as commish. I would have thought that he might be at the Elks 75th season opener with all the alumni there.

I also hope he won't be the one to negotiate the league's new TV contract in which I believe expires this year or next. League has pulled in very good ratings and will get a huge bump up from the 50 million a year they currently get.

He should be fired on the website/stats issue alone. Name any pro league without a verifiable stats engine lol.

Wow, does he think there is a spot for him in the NFL?? Has anyone from the CFL offices gone on to the NFL, no one that I can recall.
