Trading Brogdon for Porzingis was a great trade. Trading your best playmaker and defensive guard for Porzingis and a couple of first round picks in the 20s isn't close to a great trade. f***ing Clippers, got nothing but players with injury concerns but adding another in Brogdon was apparently too much

Wow we got firsts too? That’s huge, they need cheap depth to fill out the team. Especially if they’re gonna supermax Jaylen

I don't like Zinger at all but this was brilliant. Smart was massively overrated, and not well liked on the club.

Moving out: Gallinari, Muscala, Smart, pick 35

Coming in: Porzingis, pick 25, GS 2024 1st

Idk if there are protections on that GS pick but they are a Curry injury away from being mediocre at best

On the one hand, Smart was incredibly frustrating, but the guy left it all on the court every night. Value seems fine, but man it seems like a gamble with Porzingis' injury history.

1-4 Protected in 2024, top 1 protected 2025 and unprotected after that

I'm not an expert but this will make our defense take a massive hit, won't it?

Still, Kristaps is Kristaps. And I love getting first rounders back.

Is Gallinari in the deal? Some sources are not listing him in the final trade.

White was a better defender than Smart last season, I think that made them comfortable enough to make this deal. Porzingis is a good rim protector.

Backcourt D naturally takes a big hit, his switchability will also be missed. Gonna be a lot harder to score on them in the paint now though

Gallinari is in it, as well as Muscala. They are needed to match salary

Wonder who they will take at 25 would love Lively but doubt he slides. Whitehead but dont think they need another sg/sf. I saw a name I believe mentioned here going to the celtics at 25 on NBAdraft.net

Smart was my favorite player. Defense is a big effing deal in the playoffs. But the two firsts definitely soften the blow. Even thought they probably end up being another Nesmith. NBA picks are the most precarious picks in sports.

Feels like there's got to be something else in the pipeline. Doesn't feel like a move you make unless you know you're getting another guard from somewhere else.

Thank Jesus

I don't look forward to the narrative of us picking up a white guy and dumping Smart but the bottom line is the core needed to be tweaked.

It’s definitely a thing. Haha. Who is the white guy the Green will go after this off-season. Call it a “coincidence” if you want, it’s just a pretty tried and true narrative.

Whatever. Who really cares? But it’s definitely chuckle worthy.

A defense that was worse this year and you trade your best and toughest defensive guard on the roster who is also the best playmaker as well. The trade made sense with Brogdon because while Pritchard isn't as good, he can give you some of the things Brogdon does and neither are good on defense. Who can the Celtics get that can fill the hole just created with trading Smart?

The thing is that they needed a shakeup, and they weren't going to trade Tatum or Brown, which left Smart as the natural option. It's a gamble, and credit to Brad to be willing to take a chance.

It's one of those moves where it could be an absolute disaster and the team could spiral missing Smart's defense, toughness, and leadership. But I also think it's tough when you have a "sidekick" try to be the leader. It's time for Tatum and Brown to take full control.

Porzingis has always worn #6 but that's definitely unavailable. Wonder if he just takes Marcus's #36 or goes to #60 or #66, or just another number altogether

Well this team is going nowhere. A team that has a fatal lack of heart and defense just traded away the only player with both
Where was this so called Smart heart and defense this post season? Where was it last playoffs when he did everything in his power to shoot the Celtics out of game 7 vs the Heat. The problem with Smart is that he thinks he's the 3rd musketeer when he is the, as you pointed out, the heart and defense guy.

Now I wonder what the C's will do with Brogdon ???? NBA players are so sensitive about being included in trade rumours that Brogdon might tell Brad Stevens that he just can't see himself being happy in Boston since he no longer feels wanted by the organization. :dunno:

This offense will hopefully be incredible, enough to balance out the perceived problems on D. Porzingis fits this offense like a glove. I think this is the exact jab in the arm this team needed.
