Imagine getting max money when you can’t dribble or shoot free throws. No point in watching any more playoff runs. This shit ends the same way and will continue to.

On a side note, Martin can’t shoot when he isn’t in acres of space. Maybe covering him was a good idea.

Here is my unsolicited advice for the Celtics:

Yo, Wyc, Steve, Brad, Joe, and anyone else in power: Shut it down for two weeks.
I mean it.

This is absolutely the wrong time for anyone to be making decisions. Game 7 vs. the Heat was a disaster, not that it ever should have come down to that. We all know this. So now is the time to step back and take a deep breath. Shut the entire operation down. Go to Turks and Caicos. Go to the Greek Islands. Go to the Jersey Shore. Hey, nothing wrong with Hampton Beach.

But get away from basketball. Do not watch the NBA Finals, which will only aggravate you. This is no time to be making roster decisions.

I’m totally serious.

Now then, where were we?

Speaking as a fan who made his first pilgrimage to the original Boston Garden in 1964 and not as someone who started covering the Celtics professionally in 1969 and was privileged to report on the last six of their 17 championships, rooting for this team was hard work. I doubt I’m telling anyone who has lived and died with this bunch something he or she doesn’t already know.

Jay King and Jared Weiss wrote something on the Celtics season for the Athletic

Players like Mazzulla but disagreed with his offense first philosophy and think he prioritized it too much when defense is what got them to the finals last year. Brogdon, Tatum and Smart all emphasized that everything for the team starts with defense

The players were sometimes unsure about defensive coverages coming out of timeouts and players like Smart, Griffin and Grant Williams helped the players as they were walking back onto the court

Mazzulla wanted to play Hauser more in the lead up to the playoffs with Grant playing less but the vets disagreed and went to Mazzulla to change it

Payton Pritchard wants to be traded

Celtics are expected to add at least one assistant who used to be a head coach.

Celtics have 12 months before they have to commit to a direction because of the new cba and if they can afford their expensive depth at the cost of most flexibility in roster building

Who knew that a head coach with a lack of staff would have major holes in game planning? (glares angrily at Bill Belichick and the Patriots)

It's so obvious at this point that Marcus Smart has to go. If I have to hear one more time from him that he's the longest tenured Celtic, Im going to vomit. He consistently fancies himself on the level of the Js and he is so far removed from being on their level. They need a veteran PG who is more than happy to be a role player, can run an offense at crunch time, and can consistently knock down open shots. The basically need the exact opposite of Marcus Smart. He'll they have that guy on the team. His name is Derrick White

Sorry but I can't Nick Wright seriously here. I'm not going to dispute that Mazzula and the Celtics coaching staff is inadequate, because they are and the staff in general is a shell of themselves. Especially when you consider the fact that this team played much tighter under Udoka and Stevens previously on both ends of the court whereas Mazzula doesn't have a game plan most nights and just sits there with his mouth open like his brain short circuited. That all being said, Wright isn't taking into account the fact that all of this would've been glossed over if the Celtics were healthy from the jump and didn't have Brogdan and Tatum go down with injuries that ultimately gimped them. Tatum going down changed the momentum of that entire game. No team recovers from losing their top superstar. I love Jaylen, but he needs Tatum more than the other way around. On top of that, there's also the fact that there was recently another referee scandal (again), calling into question the quality of the officiating of the NBA for the second time this century after the Tim Donaghy ordeal and how impartial they are (never mind if they are on the take). Everyone has seen the questionable decisions Scott Foster and Tony Brothers has made in the past decade plus in these critical games, and we are still going to bury our heads in the sand and not act as if the refs don't play a factor? That league can be more predetermined than WWE sometimes.

Jimmy butler had a twisted ankle, Tyler herro was out and kevin love got injured mid series.

Miami was more injured than the Celtics and still won.

The last few days, while I lay in bed after a back surgical procedure, I have been thinking about being a Celtic fan for years. It isn't easy being a fan of the Boston Celtics today. I have always believed that good defenses and offenses win NFL, NHL, and NBA championships. I think Defense is #1, and Offense is #2; that is the winning combination.

Listening to Joe Mazzulla say the main improvement needs to be shooting 3-point shots; Brad Stevens says they are number 2 in offense and defense. Nothing is wrong with the team and the coaching staff, and that it will be status quo for next season except for adding an assistant coach or two goes against my abovementioned beliefs.
