Why are so many people so quick to decide who wins the Calder? There is still over half a season to go everyone! Do not count Michkov out he is a special talent, as I post this he now takes the point and goal lead back with a goal and an assist so far tonight.
No one’s saying Michkov can’t win it however, compared to Mack and Hudson he’s one dimensional so if he’s not scoring he’s pretty worthless. Thankfully for him he happens to be really good at scoring

Always trust the betting odds.

Celly down to the fav at -120
Michkov in 2nd at +150
Hutson in a distant 3rd at +500

I will say odds on futures like this can be a week behind in updating, during the summer i grabbed Skenes for CY young at +12500 and in 2 weeks it was down to +1500, so take these with a grain of salt.

But i am sitting on a Celly +500 ticket from the start of the year
Id say collectively we are biased towards Mack however Hutson is a effing Dman at almost a point per game as much I’d scream Canadian media bias he’s a effing Dman putting up big numbers so I hope you win but don’t be sad if you don’t lol

You literally stated that the Calder will be between Mack or Hutson? But yes if the season ended today it is clear Celebrini for me. I just wouldn’t make any statement on a clear winner yet as there is still over 40+ games to go and as the Vegas odds show it is a very close race. I of course hope Macklin wins it and deservedly so as he SO FAR has clearly shown he is the most complete player out of the 3 while also putting up a point per game pace.

I just worry that the Sharks as a whole are clearly not as talented as the Flyers and Habs and that Macklin may not keep up in the points race compared to Hutson and Michkov. He can obviously prove me wrong but it might come down to how the voters view how important Macklin’s two way game is etc and as we all know some voters just care about the point totals. If Macklin stays a point per game and avoids injury I can confidently say he wins the Calder, but remember our team most likely gets even weaker post trade deadline.

Who cares what those know-nothing keyboard warriors have to say.

Much more interesting? Last night, I recorded the HNIC coverage of our game and today watched the pre-game, intermission, and post-game (After Hours) to see what they had to say about our guys (well, Celebrini in particular, though as a bonus there was some very complimentary talk about Askarov after the first period with Kelly Hrudey having some positive stuff to say, including that he likes his cockiness/confidence).

There was a lot of gushing over Celebrini. Kevin Bieksa may conjure up bad thoughts for Sharks fans, but he's a huge Celebrini booster; he's known him since Celebrini was like six, after all (in Vancouver). They showed his highlights from the Vegas game (Smith got some kind words there, too) and Bieksa said the way in which Celebrini can just dominate opponents in winning the puck off of them along the boards reminds him of Pavel Datsyuk. High praise!

Later, they were talking about how he sort of whips shots toward the net, and that elicited comparisons to Paul Kariya and how he would shoot sometimes. It was pretty interesting getting these outside perspectives, especially Bieksa's, since he says basically because of Celebrini, if he sees a Sharks game is on, he'll turn it on and watch. He sounded like a certain brand of Sharks fan when he said, "Take away the first nine games and the past six games and they have a surprisingly good record!" which drew some jokes from the rest of the panel.

Oh and he also said he wishes Celebrini had been put on the Four Nations roster, even to just be a power play specialist and get comfortable with the others on the roster in advance of the Olympics. And then I think Ron MacLean said that he agrees that Celebrini will be on the Olympics roster.

All very good stuff!

im from CDN so i get the media aspect, but id say the media is much more Celebrini friendly than you may think. All the national guys absolutely love him and say it makes SJ "must watch".

Hutson isnt having that effect. Michkov is also highly praised.

I think this is why Celebrini wins the calder assuming he keeps pace with Michkov/Hutson on points. I've seen more national media gushing over Celebrini than I can remember of any Shark in the last 10 years.

Plus, their coach John Tortilla is a crazy man. He won't play Michkov every game just so he have his power trip on the kid.

Sin City
Calfiornia has the highest State Tax, which causes Free Agents to give pause and the cost of living is extremely high. San Jose is is strip mall city with little culture.p

Yes California may have highest (13.3%), but NJ, Minnesota, New York aren't too far behind.

Define culture?

Google lists more than 40 museums. (Found visitsanjose.com website. | San Jose)
Performing arts
You can explore many (ethnic) cultures. Food for example.

Beyond the scoring, vision, defense, his compete is 2nd to none. Looking forward to this being the first one of many awards for #71
I am amazed of Celebrini. He seems to be that player that isnt just dominating juniors, he has that nimbleness, playing sense and body that will stand great from the first game, and for a long career ahead.

Its that funny that those not so celebrated No1 draft prospects often turns out one of the better ones. Jack Hughes, Celebrini, Dahlin where less hypes than other years No1 prospects, but top of the bunch. The Lafranierre, Owen Power, Yakupov, Nolan Patrick was so much more hyped. I even think Celebrini has a higher potential than Bedard.
Though, once Bedard finds his NHL game, I think he will be a perennial 40 goal scorer as Matthews. Though Celebirni is that player you bulld a team around, throwing out on the last minute, in game 7, in playoff OT. The type of player you draft, ccant trade or sign.

Nolan Patrick didn’t even go number 1. I remember there not being a ton of hype around Nail either.
