Bourque one-timer causes a rebound that Bäck buries into the empty net on the powerplay. An assist already for Bourque and an early 2-0 Texas lead

Chicago responds immediately 10 seconds later. Weak goal there on Murray. 2-1 game

Chicago point shot gets through and it's tied 2-2 halfway through the 1st period

Caamano makes it 3-2 Texas late in the 1st. Damiani with the assist and I think Stranges might have redirected the pass at center ice to pick up the secondary but we will see. For now he is not credited with an assist. Tough to tell

Really good chance for Stankoven all alone in the slot but he missed just wide. Great setup from Bourque

Chicago ties the game, but shortly after Texas comes back down and McKenzie scores on the rebound off a Stankoven shot.

4-3 Texas. Stankoven & Bourque both get an assist. That's 2 for Bourque tonight

Stranges one-timer snipe from the slot to open the 3rd period and Texas is up 5-3. Stankoven set him up in the slot, Bourque gets the secondary assist. First time I've seen those 3 on the ice together that I can remember, and they score. Just mid line change but still cool to see

That's 2 assists for Stankoven, 3 for Bourque tonight. On fire

Also, 13 points in 20 games for Stranges as well. Nice season for him so far too in a bottom 6 role

I don't care what Nill has to do but both those guys need to be on the roster next season and he needs to dump Suter for a real upgrade on defense.

Star-killer Rocco Grimaldi has a hat trick. Another PP goal and it's 5-5 with just under 15 minutes to play

Here's the Stranges goal:

Oh man, beautiful one-time shot pass by Bourque to McKenzie and the puck just bounced off his stick. He had a wide open net to tap it home into if he controls that pass

Stankoven gets called for a slashing penalty with 4:02 left. Chicago's PP has been scoring and dangerous all night. Big kill coming up

8-5 Texas wins after another empty net goal. That'll do it

What a crazy game this was lol. This Texas team is fun as hell and they score a ton. Average over 4 goals a game, most in the AHL.

Prospect scoring recap:
Bourque with 3 assists
Stankoven with 2 assists
Stranges with a goal
Wheatcroft an assist

And the two empty net goals should seal it. This was not a night for the goalies. The highlights should be lit.

Can you post that Stranges goal again, please. I'm getting a file not found error on here.

For some reason the Texas Stars account deleted it so we will have to wait for the highlights it seems

I imagine Bourque will get the first call-up over Stankoven, if/when we get to that point this season.

I think they'd be comfortable sticking Stankoven on the wing but not Bourque so it may depend on who is injured and they lineup they'd prefer.

I'd say one or both need to be on the NHL roster this season. There's no point keeping them in the AHL any longer. When a guy shows he can tear up the AHL like these two are, extra time there isn't needed. Keeping them down there for the full season is doing nothing but wasting their time.

I know the problem is the NHL forward roster is entirely full of guys on one way deals and a number of dudes with trade protection.
