Pretty ridiculous to think that the Rangers will finish lower than last year when they are keeping their best players from last year, adding Deric Boudreau and Alex Bilodeau to their lineup, as well as Princeton commit Joey Falloon since I posted that... dare I say that they challenge for home ice now?

Jennings is not fooling around this year, I'm sure you saw his draft... quite frankly the most agressive I've seen a team be in an effort to improve in years and it should pan out very well.

Boudreau will not play in Gloucester. He is committed to RMC. However, I agree that the Rangers will make the playoffs. They finally spent a bit of money in the off-season, and they also realized that they had to recruit in order to win hockey games. That being said, I see them potentially finishing in the top 6. Don't forget Alex Boivin, who spent the last season with the Quebec Remparts, good chance he'll be back in the mix, unless he does like Boudreau, and plays CIS hockey at 20 years old.

Out of Branch Signings

12 players added to rosters this week and all 12 are out of Branch.

It would be interesting to see an analysis in September if the number of local players is up, down, or flat.

Valley dude, where do you get your information from? It is not on the CCHL website. It would be interesting to see how many Americans and what ages they are. Are the CCHL teams importing a lot of older talent to take a run for the cup or younger guys.

9. Kemptville
10. Gloucester
11. Kanata
12. Hawkesbury

Put me in the camp that has Gloucester moving up the standings this year. They are returning a lot of their formidable offense from last year and appear to have picked up some solid new talent. Course they are still owned by Jennings so that might counter much of the improvements they appear to have made.

As much as I'd like to see Cumberland make the playoffs, I just don't see it. They were a one-line offense last year and lost the engine that made it happen. And they were kept in many games by a goalie who was top 2 or 3 in my opinion and he's gone too. And they've lost 2 key D in Rossy and Bennett. They've signed a couple of D with no junior experience so time will tell if they are legit. And the net will be manned by someone who was not a junior starter last year.

Hopefully the core that is returning make some steps forward but I don't see how all this points to a team improving on last year's 10th place finish let alone making the playoffs.

I see Kanata and kemptville out. Not sure about Ottawa. Cumberland and hawkesbury are close but maybe a year away. Bright young talent there. Gloucester makes the playoffs hands down. And will be good for a few years. A team that may surprise in a bad way is brockville. Long shot but we will see.

Gloucester should be better and I predict they will make playoffs along with 73s. Concern with Rangers is defense and PJ factor. Teams falling in standings IMO are Ottawa, Brockville, Nepean . The non PO teams are Hawks, Sens Grads and Lasers IMO

Ottawa, ON
I don't see the OJS falling. They lost their top lime, but adding Faucher and Car should make up for that in a big way. I see them being a top team again.

EDIT: They lost their top line**, they did not misplace a citrusy green fruit.

I don't think so - I think Mayo is one thing the club has going for it. After the last 2 clowns, anything would be a step up but Jamie has a solid background from his time in Brockville and CP and his teaching background means he can communicate and develop the players. I think the lack of success in recent years means attracting top-level players is a challenge and there isn't any financial support to help buy any pieces they would need to really jump start them back to respectability.

The @hawkesburyhawks have made a trade! The Hawks acquire 95 C Jason Brochu from Kanata for CP's 1st rd pick in 2015 @CCHLTier1

Some Changes with the SF Bears Defence

Noticed that Nicolas Legault shows on the Bears' roster. He was with the Hawks last season & now shows as inactive on the Hawks’ roster.

From the Bears Twitter account, Taylor Henry announced:
I'm very excited to be able to play my last season of junior alongside my brother @JaredHenry77 with the @SFBears"

Crazy Camps

Does anyone else find it brutal that Nepean has 90 kids in camp.

Even CP seems high given how many players have already signed.

I do get that this is a fundraiser, but with pay to play now the teams are supposed to be more financially viable, so do they need to do this ?

Not all teams charge for August camp, for many teams they bring in all their protected players. It gives them a chance to work with them and get to know them better. I understand this is how teams like Smiths Falls, Brockville & Kemptville do it, probably a few others also, those camps are around 35 to 40 players.

Gloucester hosting Cumberland tonight. Early but think Grads will be hard pressed to make playoffs. Don't let Nepean vs Kanata game fool you. Nepean need to whittle down roster. Kanata well......
