Even as an affiliate. How can a Canadian I assume Pearson is one because he played for Team Canada East play? Playing for Team Canada and on a Hockey Canada card, should not allow him to play there last season.

His season with Cornwall was finished. Therefore he must have been allowed to play south of the border.

USAH/HC Transfer/Release Agreement on Affiliated Players

B. Time Period of Eligibility

The players listed shall be eligible to be invited to compete for the Affiliated team from the start of the regular season to December 31
of the current playing season unless extended by the voluntary agreement of both affected teams. During this period, the players will remain duly rostered on their domestic team and eligible to compete for their domestic team when not competing for their Affiliated Junior Team. No affiliated player shall play more than six (6) games for the Junior Team...

So, to only play six games in the USHL this year, it would cost $4,000. I think the only reason they Affiliated the player, is so they can hold on to his rights and not lose him in the Draft to another team...Let him develop another year in the CCHL and bring him in next season...

It certainly appears that the Kings have a bountiful of riches in net. If Smith & Keating both return that is very good tandem. With the addition of Joel Horodziejczyk, the Kings have added another very good goalie. Horodziejczyk was the NOJHL’s First Team All-Star in Goal and the MVP.

Kings’ coaches are probably hoping that one of the players establish themselves very early as the first string to make their job easier in moving one of the other goalies.

Smith is one of 3 that are on Madison. Heard he has a good shot.
Keating signed a tender in the NAHL with the Soo right after the seaon ended
I know them both. Neither is going back to PLK

Darren Smith signed with Madison, heard he did well at the main camp and earned the number one spot!

He's in pretty good company in not reporting there, it certainly didn't phase Brandon Saad, who stayed close to home and played in the USHL instead of wasting away in Saginaw.

Yeah, but Saad eventually reported to Saginaw. I guarantee they don't trade his rights, they expect him to report. If not this year then next, but who knows, maybe he plays PLK and goes the NCAA route.

True, but I think that happened after the Black Hawks signed him.

Brandon Saad was drafted in the NHL after playing the 2010-2011 season with the Saginaw Spirit.

Saad played 138 OHL games, 24 USHL games.

Hard to argue that he 'wasted away' in Saginaw.

Real scientific survey.......

Ask 40 plus people who they "think" improved the most, and most of them from Kemptville....Just look at the the teams "wheeling and dealing" to improve....Gloucester, Hawkesbury, Pembroke, CPC...I know a lot of teams are holding close to the vest, but c'mon start announcing some of the players that you are signing.....Teams that are surprisingly quiet are SF Bears, Cornwall and Grads...Anything brewing out there?

Saginaw, Saad & Trocheck

Brandon Saad was drafted in the NHL after playing the 2010-2011 season with the Saginaw Spirit.

Hard to argue that he 'wasted away' in Saginaw.

And then the next year Vinny Trocheck wins the OHL scoring title. Someone have an axe to grind here ?

Signings

CP signed a 97 goalie from the GTHL Vaughan Kings and moved Laforest out west to the Portage Terriers.

Two Trades

The 73s have traded last year's captain, M. Martin and D. Dispio to the Quebec Jr. A league, Sherbrooke. Both of the 73s are to attend Bishop's University. Apparently this was a 3 way deal. The 73s receive a PDF and the Kings receive A. Nellis.

The Kings have traded R. Murphy to Cumberland for a draft pick & PDF.

CP trades L. Gareau, D, to the Braves for the Braves 1rst round pick in 2015

Looks like everyone is up and going by the weekend. Nepean started already but they normally use first week as a fundraiser.

Expecting it to either be Gloucester or Kemptville. Would think both teams will easily make the playoffs.

Quite frankly I don't see Gloucester escaping out of the bottom four in the league this season, Canadian.

They lack a lot of that 'traintrack' ability a playoff team needs - that quintessential 'traintrack' element...think Hawkesbury's tender Carmine Guerriero back in 12/13.

I look at the Rangers' core this season and honestly, I just see a whole bunch of question marks.

Can they make the playoffs? Gee golly, I'm really not so sure about that. Personally, I'd be surprised if they even finish above the bottom two.

Pretty ridiculous to think that the Rangers will finish lower than last year when they are keeping their best players from last year, adding Deric Boudreau and Alex Bilodeau to their lineup, as well as Princeton commit Joey Falloon since I posted that... dare I say that they challenge for home ice now?

Jennings is not fooling around this year, I'm sure you saw his draft... quite frankly the most agressive I've seen a team be in an effort to improve in years and it should pan out very well.
