Urbani released? Marotte, the other goalie they brought in is 1-8 in his last 9 starts. Hertz is now listed as AP and 1-2-1 at Winchester. Unfortunately the situation looks pretty tough. Wouldn't trying Urbani have been a better alternative? The meltdown at Cornwall for Marotte looked pretty bad. I hope PG can salvage the season, but he may have to start the rebuild.

Meltdown at Cornwall??? Game was in Nepean... Comment on game if you've seen it! No meltdown there. Better team won.

Looks like teams looking to add experience to their lineups yesterday. Announced moves were Watt to Ottawa, Lesway and Riddell to Kemptville. It will be interesting to see if any others get announced today.

I believe by December 1st the teams must reduce their roster to 25 Jr. A plus affiliates. There is also another important date I believe January 10 2015 (?) that reduces the cards to 23 and fixes the roster for the year. I think. There must be a GM on the site that can verify. Jason Clarke used to be here until someone was disrespectful. And that is putting it mildly.

You are right Eddy. Teams must be down to a combination of 25 carded players/unused cards as of Dec 1st. Since the CCHL has introduced a rule limiting teams to having a maximum of 23 carded Jr A players at any time this season I am sure most teams are sitting at 22 players and 3 unused cards or 23 and 2 as of today.

At the beginning of the season one of the Nepean parents commented that the Raiders looked like a AAA Major Midget team. They may be right.

12 losses in the last 15 games would get most coaches fired. However, Peter is a survivor and a valued member of the Raiders family. Hopefully, he turns it around. He certainly has a big task ahead of him.

Well PG had a few years with lots of talent, now players talk about the way here coaches, and this is what happens. And for the amount he gets paid. I would say your gone. PG is a Great GM. but coach ???

A little confusing that the CCHL Web Site has him listed as "Released"
from Nepean, and the OJHL site has him "Acquired in Trade from Nepean"....

http://cchl_hockey.stats.pointstreak.com/transactions.html?leagueid=349

Could be human error. I believe PG is in a daze right now. It appears our friend is a lost soul, at this time. It is clear PETER has given up on this season. The trade was out of our League and not as important to disclose all the details. I don't think there was another player involved. Likely PDF (cash) and perhaps future considerations, whatever that means.

Parity

At the beginning of the year it looked like the teams were close, save and except CPC. It appears there is now separation:

Carleton Place 61

Ottawa 51
Cornwall 45
Smiths Falls 43
Pembroke 42

Not sure if anyone will catch Jason Clarke and his mighty Canadians. The key here is to be in the top 4 to have a better chance of proceeding to round 2 of the playoffs.

And then the middle of the pack that will be fighting for a playoff position:

Hawkesbury 36
Brockville 33
Kemptville 31
Gloucester 31

And then we have the bottom dwellers. 2 teams in a familiar position and 1 surprise.

Nepean 27
Cumberland 19
Kanata 16

This is Cornwall Colt's biggest weekend of the year. It plays 3 of the top teams and this will determine if they are solid # 3 team chasing # 2 or a 4th or 5th place team.

Thursday (home) PLK
Friday (away) CPC
Sunday (home) OJS

Go Colts Go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

standings so far

Agreed, CPC and Ottawa in a class of there own. CPC leading in points but Ottawa has won 2 out of 3 head to head and dominated CPC at their only home meeting.
Ian will pull out all the stops as trade deadlines approach to move Colts into that top 3 team battle.
Pembroke better than their points, big injuries set them back.
Gonna be a good second half!

Piccolino Returns

As per PLK tweet:

The PLK have acquired CCHL playoff MVP and Bogart Cup Champ Jordan Piccolino from the Laronge Ice Wolves for a PDF.

No confidence in their two tenders or is one of them injured?

I thought Piccolino was with the Olds Grizzly's in the AJHL this year? Who's the odd man out or did they trade someone?

Interesting -- or perhaps provocative -- data from MyHockeyRankings.com

It uses results-based algorithms to calculate a ranking for teams based on the quality of a team's schedule, results, and the relative strength of the league.

According to this site Trenton is the top ranked OJHL team, ranked 21st in the country overall.

Aurora is ranked 31st.

Move on!

Peter Goulet is great hockey coach who actually cares about his players. He is loyal to his players and wants them to succeed in hockey and in life. Stop using this board to grind your axes and move on..Peter Goulet will be out of work for 10 minutes on the day he is let go (or decides to leave) from any job he has in hockey..

Peter is Nepean Raiders and has a winning record. If he moves on it is because it is his choice. Don't be surprised if one day he jumps to a higher level. Don't count him out this year either with the new play-off format.

You Nepean guys are funny.....you guys put down coaches in our league all the time...especially take runs at IM & JC.....you Nepean followers are a joke....Now on the other hand PG...good guy, cares about his players, good GM, good coach.
But you guys make me laugh.
My Lumber Kings look like the way CP did last year...deep with skill, size and good goaltending. Should be interesting second half!

If Pembroke had such good goaltending then why did they reach out and deal for Piccolino? Goaltending isn't and wasn't the issue at Pembroke, it's their lack of defense. If they improve their D by Jan, they could cause some problems.

PG out-coaches Ward with half the talent that the Braves have.

There is no doubt that PLK has an abundance of talent. The issue is coaching. Dale McTavish is well connected and is prepared to write the cheque(s). You put IM, JC or PG behind this bench and PLK would lead the League. Dale will develop into an effective coach, it takes time.

The other issue, and it relates to coaching is D. Discipline. PLK is the highest penalized team per game in the league. 21 minutes per game in the sin bin. It is difficult to win games if the team spends this much time on the PK per game.

That being said, PLK will be at the top this season and if Dale gets things organized, they could win the League.

Peter is a good man and a good coach & I believe he does care.....My take is that in the past two years he gets too wrapped up in the spring and summer business (read: cash cow), has way too many players on a string (with "a good chance to make the team").....then at crunch time at the end of August mistakes are made with the final roster....imo
