That's a first this year - someone cheering
On the lasers

It certainly isn't a stretch for them to win tonight - they stole 2 a couple weeks back
They compete each night. If they can figure out their goaltending status since the departure of Skinner
I think they'd have more wins

I personally believe they will surprise a lot of people in the second half

What' do you think eddy?

I am with you on the 417 highway, all the way. At least the Lasers are making the effort and the most of a very difficult situation. They are doing OK. Good luck tonight. I look forward to watching the game.

It appears the Grads management / ownership / advisors just don't care. It is sad.

I have said it before.....the Cumberland Sads. I feel for the players and their loyal fans.

"Dear Mr. Barban, please put some effort (and money) into your team."

C Hughes

How does G Hughes get in the roster when he's only played 6 games and is listed as an AP ?

Player has now been recategorized on the Kings - no longer as an AP nor inactive. However, the Kings now have 25 active players on their roster.

How many on a Roster

CCHL teams are only permitted 23 carded players this season, can bump up to 24 for a two week period.

As of Nov. 12/14
SmithsFalls (22)

Brockville; Gloucester; Hawkesbury; Kemptville; Ottawa (23)

Carleton Place; Cumberland; Nepean(24)

Pembroke(25)

Kanata (27)

Unsure of the Colts' roster.

AP Rule

It was my understanding that an AP is able to play 5 games. If I am mistaken, it would be appreciated if a poster could clarify.

Cornwall has 2 listed AP players that have played > 10 games (A Lane(19); J. McFarlane(14).

Gloucester's C. Eckenrod is an AP , shows as inactive but has played in the Rangers' last 5 games.

Up to 2 days ago, C. Hughes was showing as an AP with 6 games having been played.

After last night, add Kevan Dumouchel, Kanata who has played 5 games with the Lasers along with games with Char-Lan.

Minor Midget - 5 games
all others 10 games

Pointstreak info is only as good as the person looking after it.

Isn't the 5 game rule only effective after a certain date in January.

Brockville has lost 9 out their last 10 games. Coaching change is over due and mind as we'll look for a new GM as well. Lots of changes and no results. Not worth my $12 any more and I'm not alone. Every game they look unorganized. Gills need to clean this up quickly.

It is clear that the Brockville Braves needs a new owner. Everything else will fall into place. It is a very good organization, save and except the ownership.

I understand the Braves are "for sale" . Any buyers ?

At the right price I am sure JC would love to own a team in that arena and market. I heard Matt Ward helped him coach in Toronto, maybe picking his brain. With teams like he has in CP he would fill the arena every game. CH - CHING

Mr Barban also needs to give his coaches the freedom to coach. Jamie Mayo was forced to keep Barban's son on the team where he clearly does not belong. When will owners stop using their teams as personal vehicles for their children? ... Silly me .... Never.

It is a shame for the players trapped in Sads land. Top players are rumoured to be seeking trades, RH simply quit, and SB's kid is making an absolute mockery of the team. Staff were forced to take him and the fact that he even plays has sent a negative message to the rest of the players. SB trying to live the dream through his son, and embarrassing everyone involved, including himself along the way. IMHO CCHL is set up for elite athletes who have earned the privilege of playing there. SB should do the right thing and sell the team to someone that truly has the best interests of his players, staff and loyal fans at heart. (Good luck finding a buyer) Money can buy you a team, and a spot on the board, but it does not magically make you into a hockey guru. Personally I won't spend another dime at one of their games, until significant changes happen. A new coach isn't going to fix this program, until SB steps down as GM and lets hockey people make unbiased hockey decisions without his interference. :shakehead

The contradiction in your post says it all. Sell the team, but good luck finding a buyer. This entire league lives only because of guys who buy teams so their kids can play. They scout or help or fund raise so their kids can play. How else can a league that draws 50 fans to a game survive. The recent pay to play has given them some relief but I am sure they are still losing money.
And I know that this is not true in a few markets where the community supports the team, but overall I think it's accurate.

I think we should spend less time criticizing these people and more time thanking them for giving these guys a place to play. If the cost is one (or two) players who should not be there so be it. The younger son in Kemptville had no business being there as a 16 or 17 year old, but now as an 18 year old appears to fitting in fine. Same in Brockville.

Been a while....so here we go......you have got to be kidding ME....both kids in Kemptville and Brockville played AAA. SB kid played rep B and was one of the worst players on that team you cant even compare. The only person that should be thanking SB is Jamie Mayo.....for getting him out of that SS...

The problem(s) in Cumberland run deeper than one player. You can hide one player and he will get better with practise and playing at the Jr. A level. If other aspects of the management of the team were fixed, you could accept the player situation. I recall Matt Jacobs with the Colts was not an elite player. After spending 4 years playing and daily practises, he became one of the best D in the league. Give the kid a chance. It is the overall management / ownership including ineffective scouting that is the issue.

I was talking with my son the other day and even he figured it out. I suggested that Casselman is a good hockey market and would make a better Jr. A franchise than Cumberland. He says, the reason fans support the Vikings is that they put together a competitive and winning team year after year. It is exciting hockey to watch.

It wont happen but it would be interesting to see he Vikings play the Grads in an exhibition game. I would go and see that for "chits and giggles".

Leger is a top quality coach. A good move by SB. Don't imagine DL took the deal for free. If SB is smart, he will sit back and let his new coach make the hockey decisions. Time will tell....... Good luck to DL

Congratulations to Dave Leger and the Cumberland Grads with a
BIG 3-0 win over the Nepean Raiders. Very big win. It appears to be a very good coaching move.

18 save shut out for Kevin Gollmer, the CCHL Corporate Hype / CCM Player of the Week.

Nepean: 2 wins in the last 10 games will be an issue for any coach. Hopefully, Peter Goulet will turn things around. The Raiders phones will be busy tomorrow.

Since getting rid of both goalies earlier in the season the two replacements are 3-6 (3-7 when the Brockville game is finished) and 4-4 (2-4 against teams not named Kanata). Cumberland isn't exactly a powerhouse and 18 shots tonight against them is awful. In the meantime the kid they had in preseason who had a huge game against Pembroke, McIntosh, went to Kitchener in the GOJHL where I see he is 15-3 !!! 2.98 GAA.I never understood why someone didn't pick him up. Is he Nepean's property? There was talk on the London Boards of him as he was a prior London Knight's draft pick. Maybe he'll be next in the City? But their offense has been deadly silent too. On the other hand , I don't see anyone catching CP. I'm guessing new faces will be appearing , as PG is too good to watch this happen.

Your hard facts are a bit soft. Regardless, I am not interested in analyzing kids and pointing out who or who could not play on an individual level. My comment was generic, without parent owners we don't have a league, IMO.

Agree with the above comment - we are indeed quick to criticize those who foot the bills....while the son was a bit of a distraction, the issues in Gradland have been more around lack of structure and other related distractions

Cumberland has talent and now will likely get structure and discipline to their play......A 3-0 win (39-18 shot count) against an uninspired Raider team (who knows whats going wrong in Nepean) and a 2-1 overtime loss against the #1 team in Canada shows there is hope in Navan....

Let us see what the coming weeks bring........lookout eddy, the sads are on your schedule

It would be good to see the Grads compete and win some games. And I believe the Grads play the Colts Sunday and next Thursday, back to back. We shall see. Good luck to the new head coach. There is talent on the Grads roster.

The Colts surrendered tonight to the Brockville Braves 7-5. The Braves needed this big Win. They have lost 9 of their last 10 games.

Even Kanata Lasers gave the Hawks a run for their money tonight.

It is good to see any team can win on any given night. It is called Parity.

Footing the bill?......really in the pay to play league....more like filling the pockets!!
Grads have no imports....which means two things.....lazy or owner not spending money....all city teams have imports and making an effort...why not Grads....

The Grads have 3 imports listed on their roster, had 4 at the beginning of the season...I do agree with what you say about the owner not spending $$$$. This community deserves better than what the owner has produced, and the community no longer supports the team like it once did...Guess it will be time to sell the franchise and move.....Casselman/Rockland.
