Czechs will announce their final roster for WHC very soon... On the international board one poster said Jiricek has been playing through injuries in the latest pre-tournament games and thinks Jiricek might skip the actual tournament. If none of Sillinger, KJ, Svozil or Jiricek are playing then everything went just as I wanted. Well, except Jiricek's injury.

Halifax won both games without Dumais. Clearly drags his team down
I understand the sarcasm, and to be clear, NOBODY is hoping that any CBJ prospects fail, “skilled” or “unskilled”.

But, everything needs to be taken into account. It says something that they were able to win the games without him, after losing with him.

Bergeron didn’t play with the Bruins for games 1,2,3,4 and they were up 3-1 in the series. He came back for games 5,6,7 and they lost them all.

For all the talk about Halifax beating up on a weak QMJHL division, kind of funny that they are going to the final. Maybe they were just THAT good? Is the East division (where the Remparts reside) really any different? Or are people just making that claim because the Maritime division has two more teams than all the others? If you look at the top 4 teams in each division’s point totals they are all similar.

Lawrence is the best forward in the league right now. He's so dominant in all areas of the game. I'm surprised a NHL team still hasn't signed him. They also had a strong showing from their goalie. Sherbrooke basically spent 75 % of the game in Halifax' zone last night but he stopped everything.

I read Dumais has good chances to be back in the final series, even for game #1 there is a possibility.

He is tiny and 21 in a junior league. Seems like a late bloomer though, maybe San Jose signs him since he went to their development camp

Just peaking at some other WC stats and I saw Knazko played 22 minutes and had an assist. I dont really see a path to the NHL for him with Columbus but with his development could be a good trade chip in a package other teams might value higher

The nice thing that Columbus has is a deep development pool of defensemen that seem to be rated pretty highly by many experts. I agree Knazko may not be the odds on favorite to be in the NHL with Columbus, howevever, Tim Berni was also not viewed as a player that would make the NHL in most circles (minus the Tim Berni Fan Club :)). While Berni may not be a world beater, he was steady beyond his experience and showed some promise to be a bottom pair/#7 guy adding another valuable piece.

I guess my point is that we don't know who will actually develop and having Knazko, Berni, Svozil, Mateychuk, Richard, Makarov all on the left side bodes well for a couple of them "hitting" and being valuable players or assets (as you note). REally try not to be a homer but I do love our prospect pool and can't wait to see what June brings.

I think the quantity approach with D prospects is the way to go, because they're not so predictable.

Never stop picking them up in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds.

Malatesta seems to be having quite a post season and I love. This you g man has grit in his game - the type this team needs. I hope he continues to develop into a bottom 6 dependable NHL regular.
