Well... The Athletic has the CBJ prospect pool as a top 5 pool. Not sure where yet but Scott Wheeler is down to his top 5. I'm interested to see who's actually part of his list. I know the Russians have all been advancing very well and most are 20 or under.
Hawks ranked #5 today. Based on what I read as to criteria for inclusion, KJ & Sillinger are definitely excluded and probably Marchenko & Chinakhov as well. With hopefully a top 3 (really hopefully 1)pick in the near future things look promising.

I suspect that means we're for sure top 3, because I think we're ahead of Minnesota (assuming they've "graduated" Boldy and Addison). The other remaining teams are Detroit and New Jersey.

Dmitriy Voronkov in action 1+2

I think he's better than Chinakhov and Marchenko. A two-way player, agressive, excellent play in the front of the net, at the boards, for/backchecking and his offense is very underrated. What is important, he can play very good under pressure. Besides he's a real warrior.

Shame about Jiricek missing the AHL ASG. Would've been a cool experience for sure (I guess not really comparable to the NHL one but still). And super interesting if we get to see Voronkov on NHL ice this season!

Well if he lives in Halifax... Was great to see though! I'm always amazed at these great facilities that the non-NHL leagues have over in North America (or specifically Canada I guess). Finland has exactly three arenas that are over 10k, most of the top league arenas are between 5000-7000 capacity. Some are nice/new/renovated though. (And the same is true for Sweden and the Czechs.)

Halifax is special though, it's by far the largest city of the 4 Atlantic provinces, bigger than Tampere and Turku. Most Q arenas are in small cities with arena capacity in the 3-5k range.

Have you checked out The OHL Podcast channel on youtube? There are many arena tour videos of OHL barns, I think they started uploading them this season. Anyhow it's very cool stuff for someone like me who can only dream about visiting all those places at some point in the future.

That is pretty awesome. Like a mix of oldschool barn with some more modern/spacious areas. I've been planning an NHL arena tour one of these days and lately I've been thinking I should add some AHL for variety (starting with Cleveland obviously), now maybe I should add some junior leagues too... Man can dream, eh. :D

I wouldn’t go this far; he might be more efficient in the bottom six but raw talent wise he’s likely behind both

I don't agree. His offense is underrated. And if the center's habits return, he'd be a perfect fit between two technical players.

Definitely add some CHL venues. I've done a "4 games in 4 days" OHL driving trip a couple of times and it's fun going to the small arenas and seeing how junior hockey in Canada works.

It's striking how different the venues are. Owen Sound is a pretty small town and the arena is kind of old and homey and small - so far, it's been my favorite. I was on a business trip in Quebec and got to a Drummondville game and it was not much larger than a HS auditorium. London and Windsor could pass for NHL arenas in terms of amenities, scoreboard etc.

I didn't think I'd do one this year but when Sarnia got LDBB, I figured I might as well put a trip together. Going to Niagara/St Catherines (last time I was there was the last season for their old arena and it was a very old school), Hamilton, Kingston and Sarnia. Super excited.

I've been high on Voronkov since they drafted him but as I said previously, his skating needs to improve before he can be considered a higher lineup player. From all views and accounts I see him as a mix between Alexander Svitov and Boone Jenner. He has some intriguing skills to his game but he isn't overly creative and his skating is below NHL level skating. I think he'll become a successful NHL player but I don't see him more than a middle 6 center at his peak and most likely a 3C with some upside. That's not to say it won't can't change but he's going to need to show he can play on the small ice, process things faster and keep up with the pace. Right now, I haven't seen things in his game that says that transition will be smooth and quick. I'd love it if he became a top 6 center but as a realist I see him on the 3 C long term. and a good one at that.

I'm not even saying he'd play in the top 6 right away.

top three are columbus, new jersey and minnesota in some order.
I'm guessing we're third for lack of depth after our top four (Jiricek, Mateychuk, Ceulemans, Svozil) and total lack of C or G compared to the other two, Minnesota is second because Boldy graduated but they've still got Wallstedt and Rossi coming, and then New Jersey is first by virtue of having both L. Hughes and Nemec plus Holtz, Daws, Casey, Mukhamadullin.

there's an off chance that johnson and sillinger get consideration on the list imo. wheeler doesn't have a firm criteria for considering someone a prospect other than 'are they a full-time NHL player' and he's been flexible with that.

it looks like the jackets are going to send sillinger down at some point (and he's younger than most guys on these lists still) and could do the same with johnson, ergo they could feasibly meet the definition based on that uncertainty.

i'd be surprised if they do end up counting, but you never really know with wheeler.

Wheeler also really likes Dumais, as I recall.

Jackets at #3. That's very impressive considering Johnson, Silli, and Chinny are graduated.

worth noting that wheeler calls the blue jackets top seven prospects 'probably the strongest top seven in the league at the moment'

those seven: jiricek, mateychuk, dumais, marchenko, ceulemans, svozil, del bel belluz. notably on the list but outside the top seven: voronkov (8th), tarasov (10th), berni (14th).

amazing job by jarmo to restock the pipeline. they were dead last in 2020, 27th in 2021, 6th last year. then, after graduating johnson (1st), sillinger (2nd) and chinkahov (4th), they've moved up to 3rd.

For those saying, there’s nothing to look forward with CBJ hockey, we have one of the best prospect pools with some major additions this draft. ( that’s without KJ, Sillinger and Chiny!)

Things are going to become bright as early as next season, with 99% certainty of the coaching staff change and some noticeable player personnel change
