If he’s still ranked as a “prospect” I’d probably have him second. Narrowly. Johnson is making it hard to keep him at #1.

I think most of us are very high on his upside. He went through some battles last year and wasn’t always great but he held his head above water for most of the year. That’s pretty good for an 18 year old.

I think he’s on track to be a 50+ point 2nd line center
A summer tournament has made it hard to keep Johnson at number 1?
He was a ppg at the Olympics while a guy like McTavish had 1 point. In the WC he had 7 points in 10 games where Sillinger had 3 and surprisingly 4 of those 7 points were goals.
If you really value 2 way play then I kind of get the arguement of Sillinger being right there with Johnson but Johnson's offensive upside is well above anyone we have in the pipeline. Hes just furthur away from being an impact player but easily worth the wait should he even reach close to his potential

Edit. Im just going to throw a little edit in here reading back I know some will get stuck on "value 2 way play" and make that the focus ignoring the main point. Of course we all value 2 way play but what I mean is Sillinger is probably a 2C or 1B guy good in both ends of the ice and not going to be pushed around come playoff time. Johnson has the upside of a 1st line player who is a wizard offensively and makes his linemates better

The thing that always surprises me the most with Voronkov is the 190lb listing. Thats fairly slender at 6'4" but it clearly doesnt slow him down at all in the strength category. Interested to see if he eventually puts weight on for NA hockey or if he just feels his best cardio wise at 190 and stays there for a reason

...or maybe that 190 Lb listing hasn't been updated in several years and he's no longer such a lightweight.

Johnson may make the big club but if he doesn't I'd really like to see the Monsters have a very good roster led by him. I think the org has enough talent down there to make that a positive development environment.

I used to want Svozil and Jiricek in Cleveland, but Svozil is better suited for the WHL especially with the team he's on (he is AHL eligible somehow right?). As for Jiricek I still want him in Cleveland. He needs strength more than anything (even more than KJ needs it) and I trust him to get stronger there than in Czechia. Also would be a good chance for him to get acclimated to NA, and get hands on development in our pipeline. I think he is ready for the AHL and by season's end would be thriving in that environment.

Our AHL team is already improved I think and adding Johnson, Jiricek and even Chinakhov could make it dangerous. A Luoto-Johnson-Chinakhov line or something like that could be nice. As a fan I kinda want that situation so I'd have another team to really root for on nights the Jackets don't play.

Svozil was drafted out of the Czech league so he is AHL eligible.
Regina is going to be a weird team. Hes going to be prime for top minutes with Evans gone and Bedard is gonna do his thing plus Howe came out of nowhere last year but theyve loaded up somewhat recently and dont have the assets to really do it again. I think if he stays in the WHL he'll probably be done a round or 2 into the playoffs. He could be traded to a contender but if the Pats are in a playoff spot but they may tell themselves to go for it.

Svozil too could benefit from some extra strength training but he could also benefit from running the blueline in a lesser league. No bad option for him

There are certainly benefits with both options. I have more faith in Monsters coaching staff than Regina's in helping Svozil to defend more competitively and to take his off-ice training more seriously, so that's another plus I see in AHL option.

Edit. btw how is Monsters blueline looking right now? Is there any room for OJBH/Knazko/Svozil in 2022-23? They seem to have 7-8 defensemen still in the system who played in Cleveland last year.

Bayreuther
Bjork
Berni
Christiansen
Sweezey
are under NHL contracts according to capfriendly.

Clayton
Simpson
Leblanc
with AHL contracts according to EP. Idk which of these could be sent to ECHL.

The bad option I think is getting stuck in a low minutes role in Cleveland. Svozil's offensive game might be primed for a huge leap, and Regina is the best place for that. And while getting stronger would go quicker in Cleveland, I don't think that is enough to put Svozil in line for a future NHL job. There are too many D ahead of him on the depth chart, we have to think about getting very big improvements out of him. I think an offensive breakout before going through the Cleveland process would be best.

I was surprised to read Pyyhtia is going to play for TPS this season. I thought he was over here now since he signed a three year entry deal.

I think when he signed it, the expectation was that it would slide until 2023-24, when he will hopefully be able to join the Monsters.

At first I was surprised not to see Tarasov name there, but then figured he’s older than the threshold for the rating. Honestly, it should be a bit more for goalies who rarely get to play in the big league before 22-23 years old

Not gonna lie... I thought this was low. I try not to be too homer centric with our prospects but when I read teams ahead of us with the way Pronman rates their skill sets, I really have to question how some of the teams are considered higher on this list. Ultimately it doesn't matter but trying to be realistic our prospect/young player pool has a lot of upside and a lot of "expected to hit" prospects. If anything we still only have 1 expected elite offensive talent in KJ but I'm a firm believer that a team full of high end 2nd liners and low end 1st line talent can be stronger than one with a couple elite pieces and nothing around them. I like our future.... a LOT

Not to mention Patrik Laine is 24 , and I think Marchenko is going to be a force in the NHL

probably another situation where he wont play for Cleveland so he'll stay there until he's ready (assuming he ever will be).
