Im not worried in the slightest, im happy hes going back. Im just expecting some to worry, we literally have someone already mapping Gaudreau's future and scared he'll force a trade to PhillyHe's too good to stay all four years there, nothing to worry about.
What are everyone's cbj prospect rankings now that the draft is over?
Doesn't it also depend on how you define "prospect"? He considers Silly a prospect...I don't.Gotta be the most underrated group in the league to some. I see a bunch of ranking either here, youtubers and I believe even some "analysts" that have Columbus at 10 or lower. I expect those people to look silly pretty soon
If if you define it calder eligible and take Sillinger out which you for sure shod its still a top tier group. The biggest question with that group is can Johnson be a center or is he a winger. From a talent standpoint its top notchDoesn't it also depend on how you define "prospect"? He considers Silly a prospect...I don't.

That's as far as I've gotten so far, but I'm sure I'm missing a few.
There are so many new guys that are easy to miss: Hreschuk, Luoto, Bjork, etc...
NGL, I totally forgot about Luoto and Bjork (and don't know much about either guy). There are so many new guys that are easy to miss: Hreschuk, Luoto, Bjork, etc...
This is damn near my list. I just go back and forth on Svozil and RichardI'll save the full list for the dog days of summer but this is sort of how I see it:
Kent Johnson F
David Jiricek RD
Corson Ceulemans RD
Denton Mateychuk LD
Nick Blankenburg RD
Kirill Marchenko W
Daniel Tarasov G
Guillaume Richard LD
Stanislav Svozil LD
Dimitri Voronkov F
Liam Foudy F
Luca Del Bel Belluz F

I guess I am more bullish on Marchenko. He still projects as a top six offensively skilled scoring winger.I'll save the full list for the dog days of summer but this is sort of how I see it:

I’ve only seen him in the Traverse City games and the recent scrimmage, but I like Malatesta as a bottom 6/ 4th line prospect. He seems like he could be a Danforth with a very nasty streak. Certainly no a star but maybe a useful, low cost guy. Anxious to see how his path evolves. My rankings 1) are actually tiers and 2) still have Chinkahov/Sillinger despite the amount of games they each played last year.
Tier 1:
- Kent Johnson
- Cole Sillinger
- David Jiricek
- Denton Mateychuk
These are guys with star/top line potential.
Johnson and Mateychuk have the two highest ceilings of anyone in the system IMO. Jiricek is pretty much a sure-thing top pair RHD and obviously Cole is a no-doubt top six center. I also think Cole's skill level is higher than what we've seen so far.
Tier 2:
- Chinakhov
- Ceulemans
- Marchenko
- Richard
- Tarasov
This tier is guys who probably don't become stars but likely play on the top half of a roster.
I'm probably way higher on Richard than most, but to me he profiles as a Gavrikov type who is a solid second pairing defenseman, and I think he has a very good chance of becoming that type of player, but Mateychuk jumps him based on having a higher ceiling.
I'm also really high on Chinakhov. He's got more speed and better hands than I thought, and the shot is high-end. He's got the tools – the hockey IQ and confidence will come around. He also was a pretty physical player at times in Russia, I think we'll see more of that.
Tier 3:
- Dumais
- Foudy
- Christiansen
- Blankenburg
- Del Bel Belluz
- Svozil
Dumais is the biggest boom-or-bust guy in the system. He's got a chance to be a star winger in the Gaudreau mold based on his skill and hockey IQ. But a lot has to go right for that to happen.
Del Bel Belluz is a really intriguing guy. Like Dumais, the skating needs work. I think he needs to use his shot more, too, and his skill/playmaking are good but not top-of-the-lineup good. Maybe tops out as a good 3C who can play power play time.
Not gonna give up on Foudy, I think his skating and athleticism makes him a potential impact guy, could be a bigger Matt Calvert. As for the three defensemen on the list here, Blanks was impressive last year and I like Svozil's game a lot, but I don't see high-end tools for either of them. But they're both smart enough players to make it. Christiansen's shot and IQ are impressive tools, but the skating might hold him back.
Tier 4:
- Voronkov
- Dolzhenkov
- Fisher
- Malatesta
- Hreschuk
- Ivanov
- Knazko
Everyone in this tier has an interesting tool or two, but limiting factors in their game. Still, I think most of these guys will eventually see NHL time, likely at the bottom/fringes of the lineup. Dolzhenkov has the potential to force his way up into a higher tier in the coming years.
I may catch some flack for having Voronkov this low, but I don't see significant upside here in terms of skill or skating. His compete level and nose for the net will get him to the NHL, but I see him as a Kuraly type with a bit more netfront presence and worse skating/defense.
Tier 5:
- everyone else
Apparently the front office is high on Makarov. I know Pyyhtia, Angle and TFW have some fans around here, but I don't know if any of those guys are future full-time NHL guys. I see them as good AHL players who maybe get a call-up here or there.
offensively? He still has a lot of value as an speedy energy/defensive guy for the bottom 6I know foudy is still young, but I'm not sure he's going to put it all together and reach his peak...
