Hello all, just wondering if you guys can give me the scouting report on Foudy on where he’s at and what his projection is?

Hello all, just wondering if you guys can give me the scouting report on Foudy on where he’s at and what his projection is?

Some in depth discussion of Foudy's game here from Monsters play-by-play guy Tony Brown.

Foudy has really refined his transition game. Over and over again he can gain the zone and button hook and find a teammate with a pass. That's the one area where I've noticed progress. Beyond that you're still looking at a fast forechecker who can hunt down pucks, but not a guy with a good shot or great hands around the net.

He's definitely an NHL caliber player already with his speed. Whether he can become a top six scorer at the NHL level is harder to say.

So basically Foudy is viewed as a middle sixer?

I’d say that’s fair. If my projection of him is correct, I think he’ll likely be better slotted on the 3rd line than 2nd (though would love if he became an All-Star, of course. But 3rd line is just where I think he’d be best based on how I project him) and potentially our best F PKer.

If his hands can catch up to his feet. Otherwise, probably a AAAA type guy whose skating alone will probably land him as a 13th forward on a team for a few years.

He's already better than a 13th guy. The hands are much improved, at least in transition. A guy who can reliably gain the zone and dish is going to be welcome on many teams.

Watched a couple Michigan games lately. KJ doesn't look much different than he did at World Juniors. He seems way physically overmatched. Zone entries are rarely a success. One of the slowest guys on the team. Anyone else watch him recently? Am I totally off here?

That's what it looked like to me. I'm guessing he might have lost a bit of muscle between the schedule and illness. It is worrying, one of the risks with drafting super skinny guys is that they can't fill out. Some never do.

Hoping its that. He's not playing like the guy the drafted. Just no pep in his step

Watched Kent Johnson's game on BTN on Saturday Night against Minnesota on the bigger ice. Had some promising offensive shifts, but not necessarily a game changer. Got an assist on a nice passing play between Power and Beniers off a rush. Nice shot in the slot that went high... But, there were a couple moments where he made some very questionable decisions with the puck- 2 times in the offensive zone leading to turnovers when he probably should have just attacked the net rather than making some questionable passes. 1 questionable decision in the D-zone leading to a turnover. It reminded me of a segment by Scouching where he said- Keep the play simple. As noted in multiple scouting reports- Skating is below average.

I will say- Minnesota's line of Chaz Lucius-Ben Meyers- Matthew Knies is pretty damn good.
I also liked Brendan Brisson-Vegas prospect- Likes to shoot the puck.

It sounds like it might not be easy for KJ to play against men, although I don’t suspect he will get a lot of ice time

Columbus folks, figured I’d stop by to say if Guillaume Richard isn’t on your radar yet, put him on it. I watch a lot of college hockey and he’s having an incredible year at PC, playing big minutes, leading hockey east in +/- as a freshman, and already a top pairing D. Really good skater, great poise with the puck and good hockey sense. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Columbus sign him after only his freshman year. Top 4 D potential, think he’s a massive steal in the 4th rd

Just finished watching Pats game, announcer said it was the first game for Svozil after getting suspended earlier this month for a blindside hit. Looks like the same solid dman that I saw in Traverse city, CBJ camp and WJC. Calm, confident, almost flawless. Played on 2nd D pair and 2nd PP unit. No time on PK. It is easier to see now why he hasn't got that many points during the season, there's not a lot of offensive support for him or for any other more skilled guy (Evans, Bedard) on the team, they clearly lack depth. If I had to complain about some aspect of his game, I wish he was a little more feisty and aggressive on D zone when other team has the puck, especially would like to see sharper stick work on loose pucks around the net area.
