I need more information about Tyler Angle, thought this as as good a place as any to get it.

What went right for him in Lake Erie this year? I watched him almost every game he played in Windsor and never expected more than a replacement level player out of him in all honesty. His stats and play in the AHL have baffled me, I need some insight here.

@Monstershockey ?

I thought he was good. Of players with 23 or more games, ( 23 being how many Angle played), there were just 7 guys that had a better PPG than him. I know it was a messed up year, but his numbers (11-13-24), were as good as the AHL regulars that played, plus he led the Monsters in points. He was fine on the PP, with 7 of his 24 points there, helping Cleveland to the 2nd best PP in the league (26.9%). He had a shortie also, and came close a couple other times but missed. His 20% shot percentage (11-55) was really good. He could bring the puck up and enter the offensive zone well. He and Foudy had instant chemistry, and had a very nice OT game winner one game. Foudy assisted on 7 of Angle's goals, with Angle assisting on one of Foudy's 3 goals. He was fine defensively, he earned a spot on the PK so his defense was trusted. Guy just played hard and always seemed to be where he needed to be, never looked over matched. I think he definitely earned a look in the AHL next year. All this is based on watching him on TV, I really want to see him in person.

A chance at an AHL job, ya think?

Did you mean NHL?
As messed up as last year was, I'm thinking the AHL may be a little different next year. He comes out like last season, then sure, I would look at him in the NHL. As good as he looked, 23 games isn't much, but if he has a strong camp, then yeah, send him up. Maybe put him and Foudy together and see if their chemistry translates to the big club.

Yeah the taxi squads kept a lot of good AHL guys up in purgatory.

What kind of future outlook does Josh Dunne have?
I'd go with "fourth line center" myself, but I didn't get to see as much of him (my ability to watch games got severely curtailed towards the end of the season, and I was... unmotivated w/r/t putting in effort to fix it further) so others may think more highly of him.

I was impressed with Dunne. He's really smart, strong defensively, and gets in the blue paint. 4C but maybe a really good 4C, which is something I value highly.

I agree. I liked what I saw from him. The only thing I wonder is he’s a traditional 4th liner, and there are fewer teams employing such a thing. Remains to be seen what Larsen intends, although he may have limited options.

Seemed to have great defensive instincts but made Grigs and Boone look like speedsters

I don't think that's true. I think Boone and Dunne were pretty similar as far as mobility.

If I had to choose one of them for the 4C job I'd honestly be leaning towards Dunne right now. It was a short sample but last year at least he looked like a natural defensive center. Boone to me is a winger, he's a strong defender at center but you can tell there is a difference in the way the two think the game without the puck, with Dunne being more of a natural.

I don't know about traditional vs non-traditional 4th liners. If you're an effective player that stuff doesn't come into question. And I think Dunne can be effective, he's a shutdown guy that also, at least at lower levels, has scored a lot of goals in the blue paint. He seems like the perfect complement for speedy forechecking wingers like Foudy and Chinakhov.

we’ll have to agree to disagree here, to me he looked like the slowest guy on the ice. Like the rest of his game tho

I just want to warn you that only the salary has changed but not the term of the contract. Voronkov had a very small one.

Not sure I understand, why would the team give him more money if they are not getting anything in return (like more years). This makes no sense to me. Are you positive he currently is only locked into the KHL for two more years?

Yes I`m sure.

As I wrote. Btw his salary was around $30,000 what is small even for KHL.

EDIT: of course it isn`t only money. His previous contract was probably two-way contract (KHL-VHL), now it is one-way contract (KHL).

Someone is wrong. Is it an extension or a renegotiation? Hedger says it’s an extension until 2024
