At this point I think you're just cutting and pasting from previous posts. You've said all of this before. None of it matters to me or my position in this debate. The schedule is what it is for all teams. The only thing teams can control is winning the games they are scheduled to play. The SEC plays nobodies too, but you can't bring that up, because "the SEC is so strong blah blah blah" It's just a boring argument about things teams cannot control.

Just win, baby.

The SEC as a collective has been buried for the last 15 years for "never leaving the area to play a game" and for "playing nobodies". It was less than 10 years ago that a damned good Auburn team was shut out of the national championship game because Bowling Green dropped the Tigers from their schedule, and the replacement was The Citadel.

The complaints about non-conference schedules have diminished as the conference has become stronger, and now is basically used by B1G fans as a weapon the same way that the lowest common denominator used to refer to "SEC speed".

i think its been said several times here but the OOC scheduling thing is a weak pawn used...Georgia just had a home and home with Arizona State, Arky had one with USCw, Georgia just met Clemson, UF has FSU every year as our OOC opponent...OSU had to cancel series with UGA and Tenn b/c of the 9 game B1G schedule coming into play...why would ACC and SEC schools go out of the region when they can play each other for recruiting and bragging rights in their backyards...?

the B1G HAS to go out of the territory b/c there aren't OOC opponents in the area worth a damn...they have MAC schools here...

My beef year-in, year-out with the entire schedule argument regarding OSU is the perception that it doesn't schedule/isn't willing to schedule big time opponents which is flat out false.

They've had home-and-homes with Texas, USC and Miami (Fla.) in the past decade and have upcoming home-and-homes with Virgina Tech, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas again in the coming years (not to mention secondary OOC games against the likes of Cincinnati, TCU and Hawaii, which, at times have fielded good teams).

OSU isn't afraid to schedule big teams.

The problem is that every now and then their "big" OOC game winds up being against a Washington or Cal (and really Miami for that matter) -- teams that were nationally relevant at the time the schedule was made but have fallen off considerably by the time the game rolls around.

I laugh when I see Virginia Tech struggling this year and knowing that if it continues into next season it'll be held against Ohio State eventhough that program's been a perennial top program for the last two decades or so.

yeah, i will typically stick up for OSU in that area...some other B1G schools...not so much..

Just want to clarify one thing. I'm by no means defending the schedule this year as good, just saying that I don't think OSU's overall scheduling philosophy/practices are out-of-the-norm for a major program. They just seem to be the only ones criticized for it.

Every good team plays a few out-of-conference dogs. Alabama and Florida State are getting praise for it this week (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/co...ma-state-baylor-bcs-flaws-overtime/?eref=sihp) because the late season timing gives their starters time to rest in these presumptive blowouts. Smart.

OSU fills a hole in their early season schedule (that a bowl-bound Vanderbilt created FWIW) with Florida A&M and gets criticism.

They got the **** end of that brawl ... Michigan should have been called for instigating the whole thing, after completely surrounding Wilson and heckling him, before ragdolling him.

EDIT: And I'm not even an Ohio State fan...

Let me see...

Can't tackle,
No pass defense,
No short passing game,
Response to adversity is to have two starters thrown out.

Yep, that's another one of my teams.

OSU took advantage of two VERY blatant holds that weren't called on the right tackle...been an entertaining game so far...couple of terrible calls have made sure UF has no chance to help the buckeyes out...

Agreed ... I wonder what he said to him to earn that one?

I am cheering for the Buckeyes, but it's mostly because of a primal hatred for the other guys. I guess it's where I was raised?

Surprised at how well they have played though, this game could go either way.

Teams playing the Bucks have more wide open receivers than I've ever seen against any other team. They either have the loosest coverage philosophy in football or defenders with the shortest attention spans on the planet. I hate watching this team play. Carlos and Braxton should kick the ***** of every player on the defensive side of the ball.

There's an Italian slang word - agita - which perfectly describes what this team does to me. A first down on every throw stops the clock. Great way to let Michigan tie it up!
