I would think that operators must be standing by waiting for offers right this very minute... the Jets are seven points out of a playoff spot and 3-5-2 in their last 10. This does not strike me as a team with a realistic shot at a playoff push. I gave up on the idea after last night's loss.

I cheer for them to win and go on that run but from what I've seen the team just doesn't have it in them to do it.

So for me it's all about getting players like Cole and Ville there reps so that they are ready to contribute at a high level next year.

Maybe drop down enough to add a talent like Savoie or one of those RD and it will set us up well moving forward.

Well that sucked.
I am hoping we are well in the playoffs or well out of the playoffs so we know if we should sell at the TDL. I thought Copp might fetch a first rounder but after his performance last night, I am not so sure, and he was not alone. Pathetic. :banghead:

Well I guess the season is over since Toronto won the Stanley cup last night against Seattle.... wait a second, don't they always win the Stanley cup everytime they win a game? Or wait that's what their fans just say lol

scheifele seemed to have celebrated our W against the Leafs like it was his Stanley Cup though.

We better f***ing sell at the deadline.

This team is nowhere close. You can't have these types of efforts.

I don't hate everything Lowry has done, but it is clear the team isn't making any kind of step with that change. Fire the whole staff and let someone come in completely fresh and hire whoever they want. If Chevy isn't willing to do that, fire him too.

Just some absolutely demoralizing efforts out of this team. Hard to even be invested at this point.

I don't know how to motivate this team and Lowry for sure doesn't know how to do it, can't lose at home to the Hawks

Your title says a lot. A 3 game pt streak and these guys seem to start thinking they are good. They let up and lose to a bad team. We see this over and over with this team.

You aren't going to win a lot of games scoring only 1 goal. That is the long story short.

Yep, agreed.

Also, it’s frustrating seeing this win one, lose one nonsense as a fan. Either go on a tear and get back into the playoffs or bottom out and get a higher pick.

I imagine the Jets will play it conservatively (sell at the deadline, take their pick and try one more time with this core next year) but efforts like this lead me to believe the team is fundamentally broken and in need of a facelift.

Can’t win em’ all, or in the Jets case, can’t win two in a row

listened to final period in OB, Hextall just awful x 1000000000000…….

out coached

out worked

out goalied

Copp dressed

 I watched the whole game with the volume low enough that I could hear sound, but not actually make out the words. Muted completely just seems too strange. I had listened to a bit of Hextall calling a game earlier in the season. Never again! Just terrible. Maybe she could do colour, but not pxp.

Our bottom six are all the same, they have problems scoring and they are not exactly energy guys, this team needs a couple of shit disturbers to rattle the boards and up the energy

 It seems that what we need is an opponent douche bag to get them mad.

Back to the tank for the Jets. I just wish they would make up their minds what they want to be: contenders or pretenders...

They seem to have chosen. Pretenders, not contenders, not tankers, not even a PO team. Just pretending to be a PO team. They are angling for that 14th OA pick.

Are these teams really lesser opponents though? Jets are 5 points ahead of Chicago vs. 24 points behind Colorado. I'm not sure we can claim we're "playing down to the competition at this point".

I'd be interesting to hear the out of town broadcasts when teams lose to the Jets. Do they moan how their team played down to the competition and gave up 2 easy points against a bad team?

The Jets are on track to get another team's coach fired soon.
I didn't mean lesser than the Jets, I meant lesser than the top teams the Jets seem to consistently have a much better effort against.

Also, I think we can all agree the Jets have underperformed relative to their roster, which these lesser teams cannot.

This is the kind of thing that gives credence to the Leafs fans claim that people are obsessed with them.
Yeah at this point I couldn't give a flying f*** what the other 31 teams are doing. If the Jets aren't going to put in a consistent, focused effort all that other stuff is just noise

At this point I want the Jets to tank. Heinola and Stanley are still about 1 year away from being fully NHL ready (hopefully). I am very much fans of both and want nothing more than them being regulars on the PP or PK. I think the loss of Byfuglien is larger than people admit. Maybe Jiricek will be available when the Jets draft. He would be a great RHD addition.

I don't think there is anyone who does not think that the loss of Buff was huge, massive.

But too many people keep lamenting the loss. He was aging out and would have been gone by now anyway. You need to let go. Buff is in the past. It makes as much sense as lamenting the loss of Selanne. Buff is gone. Move on.

Trade or buy out the captain. Imo that is what it will take to shock this team out of their funk. This core has had its string of chances, time to go in another direction.

By core I'm talking the Wheeler, Mark lead group. If Scheifele is willing to buy into a new direction you keep him around, if not you move him out to.

I'm pretty sick of this constant overplaying of two lazy and inconsistent players. You want to know why our team is inconsistent its because we have inconsistent and one dimensional players in the most prominent positions getting all the ice time no matter how lazy and poor they play. Why would anyone expect the rest of the team to bust their asses given the example being set.

I think we need our own. The only time this team gets up, is when there is physicality. Buff used to fire this team up all the time.

Who sets a tone on this team..... I'll bet everyone says Lowry. Well, he is almost invisible in this way most nights. Dubois? Probably as close as we get to an agitator (and a good hockey player).

We don't even hit, let alone get under an opponents' skin.

The team has a lot more to give Wheeler says…..well when are they going to give it?

How is this the same team that played St.Louis. Minnesota and Nashville? If the inconsistency only came from the young players, I’d understand a lot more. When it’s your captain and an asst captain (who’s supposedly your best player), who only show up every 2 or 3 games, it’s unacceptable. I’ve never been as disappointed in a Jets team as this one. They’re really turning me off and that speaks ear bleeding volumes because I love having this team back. I’m no quitter but At the moment I’m about as interested in watching as they seem to be in playing like professionals.

I have tickets for Wednesday, Not sure I’ll go after watching tonight.

Most of the time in the past, I have liked our team, even when I knew they were not very good. They earned my affection and devotion. This team does not. I want to trade them for a different team. That despite a few players I like very much.

Well it's obvious who this team follows. They follow the example set by Mark and Blake.

When both of those two were out and we rode Dubois and Conner the whole team busted their butt and was skating. Its no real surprise we had our beat and most dominant stretch of the year while they were out or relegated to third line roles.

The moment Maurice elected to get them going at the cost of a system and effort that was having success and started overplaying them is the moment this team fell apart. Pretty much the cardinal sin of a coach is that he put two individuals and their success above the team.

No wonder things are such a cluster f***

If Perfetti weren't playing, I'm not sure I'd tune in for another game this season. I simply have better things to do with my time, and seemingly, so do most Jets players.

We are technically still in the playoff hunt with 36 games left in the season, and I can't even be bothered to turn on most games unless I'm already physically next to my computer for some other reason.

I would be surprised if we can't get a 1st for him. Plays C, plays PP, PK, 5on5... all situations, cheap contract with the Jets being able to retain 50%. I would be shocked if someone didn't shell out a late 1st for him.
Late first and a meh young guy is what I would expect. Basically the Hayes trade.

That's why for a while now I have been PVRing the games and watching afterwards when I know the score/type of game. If it sounded entertaining, then I watch all the way through it. Otherwise, I just watch the goals scored by the Jets, as well as other highlights if I hear about something.

I don't feel it's worth my time watching in real time for the effort they've been putting out there most nights. And this is coming from a fairly big Jets fan - imagine the average fan. TN needs to do something this off-season or risk losing revenue when the arena begins looking like we were in Scottsdale.
Well I've watched all Jets games this year and their not even my favorite team, they are my 2nd favorite team. In fact I've probably watched over 90% of their games since they've been back to Winnipeg. ( I just watch Jets and Habs games, all of them.) True fans watch, band wagon fans make excuses.
Jets used to be a big, fast, physical, skilled team, now, not so much. Roster needs a bit of a shake-up, bring in a couple big wingers who play gritty and are hungry to win.
Copp can go, it seems like he thinks he's a top 6 skilled winger now and doesn't have to play a gritty game anymore.
A new coach may help as well.
