I have a very helpful lawyer in Italy to assist me with managing a rental. I also have one here to assist with estate planning. They are useful for sure but some of their services can definitely be best done by A.I. eventually. Paralegals have already been impacted. Heck chatgpt wrote me a nice tenant affidavit in perfect Italian which my lawyer there proofread and made minimal edits. I didn't tell him I generated it from chatgpt but he probably suspected it.

Btw: While A.I. will be massively disruptive to knowledge work like NAFTA/globalization was to the working blue collar class....I have profited handsomely from my IBM stock...I'm up 40% baby!

Do you really think it's worse now than it was in years prior? Or do you think social media and other outlets make it easier to see it more often now than in years prior? (Serious question)
Social media is part of it, also an atmosphere where there is more support for victims and a critical mass of celebrity victims that make it easier for others to admit it happened to them without fearing social stigma.

Oh how I wish this were true, deady. I still get marketing emails from security vendors with buzzwords like blockchain multiple times a day. It may never end.

I can't figure out some of the proposed usages. Blockchain directories and ledgers for local government in China to make corruption harder to hide? That makes sense, their local governance is so broken that steps are needed. Proposed usage to manage payroll at a small business? lol that's just shittier Excel with way higher power usage.

AI is a bit overblown. It'll be really useful as "hamburger helper," do research, write first drafts, etc. Basically the scutwork done by lower level workers, but it'll always have to checked. And there is going to be a plateau where most of the easy gains have bee realized.

Where AI excels is the kind of repetitive task where it can do thinks at a magnitude quicker than humans, for example, modeling all the possible permutations of crystal formations to identify the best prospects for detailed investigation. It still requires a human to employ KISS to provide tasks suited for AI.

Right now it's riding the hype machine, as people get used to it they'll also recognize its limitations, GIGO.

And modern takes on analog computing are in the works to make the processing of AI way less power hungry. It'll become way more common and accessible soon, so we are going to speedrun finding out what it all really means.

Worse in prior years but not certain...I mean it was more normalized to be misogynistic. You had a complete miscreant serial rapist like Cosby basically saying it was part of the culture then to engage in sexual abuse. You had people like Kirk Douglass rape a young teen in Natalie Wood just because he felt privileged to do so etc. etc. You saw how sexual misdeeds were more glorified in movies back in the day until movies like The Accused with Jodie Foster brought some awareness along with the Navy tailhook scandal. Then came Me Too. Only thing is ...not sure how much the pervasiveness of online porn is influencing sexual violence....deviancy.
Jimmy Page too, finding that one out was hard to read.

Sounds like consensual with one....but not the others so maybe the one person has a defense....not sure of the others but the justice system will have to just decide this one based on all the facts vs excerpts. Her testimony will also factor big.
Exactly how I see it. Maybe some fines, community work, mental health evaluations, etc. They'll get off easy. The video transcript clearly doesn't demonstrate the girl in any danger, or forced sexual acts.

She's also gone back and forth, "I don't want to get you in trouble", she then called the Police and said it was a mistake and didn't want to pursue it further.

Either you were abused, or assaulted, or you weren't. It's not something you decide depending on how you're feeling that day.

I mean you're leaving out the part where the woman told the player that she wasn't ok with it the next day and then the player would go on to badger the victim and telling her to "Fix it."

@Rebels57 — keep this part of The Athletic article in mind:

What began as benign, however, turned more aggressive, the young woman says. He urged some friends he was with to kiss her, too. She refused. He asked her to come back to their hotel room. Not to come back to the hotel with him. To come back with them. She felt uncomfortable and declined. She had to work the next morning, she told him. Again, he asked her to come back to their hotel room. Again, she declined.

That’s not the actual victim, “E.M.” That’s another girl before her. It would seem pretty obvious the group part of this was not spontaneous.

Not so sure about it being so cut and dry for all. Seems just the one but even that is suspect bc he basically got "consent" from an intoxicated woman with compromised/impaired judgement probably why he recorded her bc he knew the whole situation wasn't exactly above board.

It’s so weird to me how we are even able to know so many details. Like at some point shouldn’t there be privacy in cases like this for the victim?

I dunno. f*** media in every form. Scum. Always.
